What is going on with Annabelle Lee and Lady St. Johns paddle boats docked by Chart House?  Ran by them last night and Lady St. Johns is sinking.  It is halfway in the water.  Debris is floating around it.

Talk about blight, geez.  Looks horrible.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

from actionsnewsjax:

"I believe it's going to have to be lifted from the back with a crane to get it to the water line where you can pump it out. But after that, I don't believe there will be a problem," Eaton said.
An issue with Eaton's new plan is getting the necessary equipment to the parking lot near the boat.

The night shot of the sinking boat would make a great new logo for the city.  ;)

QuoteThe back end of the river boat sank 10 days ago, leaking 150 gallons of diesel fuel into the river.
150 gallons?!?!  :o :o :o  :-[
If it was sitting idle for so long why did she have so much fuel in her?

To say that the liquids leaking from the boat were or are being contained is mularkey. I was on the Southbank riverwalk on Sunday and the oil sheen was on the outside of the booms. I also noticed a Pepsi vending machine floating in the boat.

Is the city not fining the owner daily?

I have a feeling this pile of garbage is going to be sitting there for a while....

Lady St Johns, although afloat was looking mighty unkempt a couple of months ago during the campaigns. My wife and I both noted that the candidate that had the banner displayed on her was not served well by the image. Perhaps a metaphor. (Yep- he lost...... 8) )

Vessels that appear shabby on the exterior often exhibit interior troubles, challenges, deferred maintenance & repairs. There are myriad ways for a vessel to sink at the dock.

What a bummer of a name to be involved in this. Trying not to place 'metaphor' energy to it, although Ocks' comment as to Logo is classic.
Might make a kayak run to the scene- likely magnificent photo op. Somethin' special about kayak level views, downtown light, setting.
And new camera, replacing the one that soaked in my own downtown swamp.............

QuoteThe offices for Jax River Cruises, the owner of the Lady St. John, are now empty and attempts to find the owner of the company have ended unsuccessfully.

The pier, where the boat sits, is owned by the city of Jacksonville but the city has given no word on what they plan to do with the sinking vessel.

Just look across the river at the abandoned condo and Liberty street cave in to see what is going to happen...  >:(

Can't anyone just come and salvage this thing based on maritime law?  I guess it could be such a huge POS no one wants to mess with it.

The city will eventually have to deal with it, tow it and then slap a lien against it to pay for the removal.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."
