Government egg industry leaders tried to crush Just Mayo startup, emails show

It appears that even the US government is not in favor of true free market competition....

The egg industry isn't happy with food startup Hampton Creek, it seems.

The U.S. government-appointed American Egg Board tried to crush San Francisco-based Hampton Creek, which uses plant proteins to make vegan alternatives to traditionally egg-based products such as mayonnaise, according to a report by the Guardian.

In a series of emails obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, the egg board staff, a U.S. department of agriculture official and some egg industry executives tried to attack Hampton Creek, which makes a popular eggless mayonnaise replacement product called Just Mayo.
