The most disappointing spot has to be Jenkin's. A place that I remember being good. They gave up over the years. Nostalgia is a powerful force, and I think it's the main reason they're still in business.  :-\

Thank you!  I moved here 7 years ago.  Being from Texas, I was in search of BBQ upon arrival.  Everyone told me about Jenkins, so I had high hopes.  I almost gave up my Jacksonville BBQ search after trying it.  Not only not good, but actually bad.

You can't go in to a BBQ join in Jax thinking you're going to get texas BBQ. We're more mustard based being so close to GA. Now, if only texans figured out how to put beans in their "chili" :)
BS! I once called into a National talk show to complain about the fact that the radio host said. You can't get good Blue Crabs unless you eat them in Maryland? What? You have got to be kidding I said. At the time I drove 2 hours each week to get Blue Crabs steamed Maryland style in Castleberry Florida. Sure I know EVERYBODY has an OPINION but my Opinion is One doesn't have to go to Texas just for Texas Bar B Q nor does one have to go to Maryland for the taste of steam Crabs. Jesus do I have to go to San Francisco for true Sour dough? NO! If I have missed the point here sorry but then again it's my OPINION!
One of many unsung internet heroes who are almost entirely misunderstood. Contrary to popular belief, many trolls are actually quite intelligent. Their habitual attacks on forums is usually a result of their awareness of the pretentiousness and excessive self-importance of many forum enthusiasts.

Relax man, it's BBQ, not a religious discussion, although we are in the South.

I was simply saying that generally you're not going to find Texas BBQ round here, most of ours is mustard/GA style.
Jags season ticket holder.

The Choose I gets pretty passionate about mundane things.  He's like a more tolerable mtrain and a more coherent Know_Growth.
