Now that you have revealed it here, isn't 328 Chelsea doomed to the tear down hit squad at city hall?

Many thanks for the informative article and photos. I always wondered what McCoys Creek looked like in the tunnel under the Times-Union. I enjoy the well researched history lessons that you provide. I didn't know about Pop Berrier's ice cream plant's location. It's a miracle that it wasn't a victim of the "urban renewal" campaigns that have served to convert much of Jacksonville's past into acres of empty land except for the occasional tile floors of past businesses. Your past article on that subject covered this well. So much of our city's past is gone for reasons that were based on false promises and in the name of the eradication of crime. Reasons that could have been better addressed.

 8) Nicely done article. Thanks for all  the not-so-well known Jax Facts!

Nice info. Although IMO it's quite a big stretch to say that defunct 'Florida' pro b-ball team (which had it's main ties to MIA) was Jax's 'lost pro basketball team'.

Berrier's Ice Cream.  I remember they had an Ice Cream store on West 8th Street.  I attended church at Springfield Presbyterian all through the 50's and early 60's.  Whenever the adults had a meeting after church they would let the teenagers take us all down to Berrier's.  I was not supposed to have ice cream which was why I like the teenagers.  They didn't know and wouldn't care so instead  of a Coke I would have ice cream.  Paid the price with a terrible stomach ache but that forbidden fruit tasted so good.
