This development just gets better and better.  This should set the construction standard for the rest of Brooklyn and should be applied to LaVilla as well, IMO.

Their "Future Park" proposal is exactly what an urban pocket park should look like.  This same thing could have been done on Main Street and would have had a built-in population that would use the park regularly.

Definately, what's been produced so far is a step up in the level of urban design, compared to what Jacksonville has gotten used to.  Personally, I'd still like to see new development evolve to the point where it doesn't completely white wash the district's surroundings and history.  While this project will end up taking out the few remaining isolated structures in this particular section of Brooklyn, I'd be interested to see what the JEDC has planned for the rest of the community.

Sadly, they have probably given very little thought to what should be done with the existing structures.  I would assume they want Miles to redevelop the entire neighborhood thereby destroying everything necessary to build copycats of their proposed buildings.

Jedc has given NO thought or Interest in what this community or businesses have to say.  We are being "outed" by the strong arm threat of eminent domain and therefere no one is even ALLOWed to renovate the existing buildings.

   They have denied all the building permits for anyone to build / renovate that could compete with Miles .  Jedc will get what is coming to them - Ron Barton should look for another job before the sh** hits the fan. 

By the way - What is Miles going to do about the church that is on this proposed project ?

Probably demolish it, which is unfortunate, given it's one of the city's few remaining buildings constructed prior to the Great Fire of 1901.  I assume that's the plan because no one has mentioned it and it does not show up on Mile's master plan.

Here's the master plan map.  An 8 story building, labled "D1" is projected to be constructed on the church site.

Even though the original plans have been revised, are there still any plans for a high rise or 2. I didn't know the original plan included 2 20 story towers...

At this point, the new plan hasn't been made available to the public so its not exactly known yet.  However, a few press releases have indicated they still plan to have up to 800 residential units, in addition to the 150k sf of retail/office space.  Considering the site is only six blocks, something vertical in nature, will definately have to be a part of such a plan.

now this is quite something!  this is shaping up to be a premiere little district for jax i'm excited.

they kind of remind me of the condo/apartments that surround the ikea in atlanta...very modern and urban. 

is there any hope of these units being semi-affordable? doubt it

wait a minute these are going all the way on park street!

this place is going to be huge.  i can only imagine what they come up with for riverside ave! :)

e1 e2 and f3 are the only ones labeled as mixed use...perhaps those are the taller portions.  would make sense with them being closest to the river.  and since they are starting with the rear of this project first they are probably working their way forward in phases...being able to salvage the prime space in case the housing market comes back.

I think all of the buildings are going to be mixed use.  The ones fronting Riverside Ave are supposedly going to be more office and hotel based, while the buildings between Park St. and May St. will be more residential based (with retail mixed in).

In the revised version, the majority of the ones facing Riverside Avenue will be heavily retail based.

do those garages have retail on the bottom? they kinda have their back turned on th rest of the city
