Bill Simmons (aka "The Sports Guy") writes for ESPN's Page 2 and ESPN The Magazine. Add everything up, and he's probably the most read sports columnist in America. Anyway, in his NFL predictions column today he picked the Jaguars to win the 2009 Super Bowl. I've always liked Simmons and thought this was pretty cool to see, so I thought I'd pass the article along.

Interesting. I'd still put them at #4 in the AFC until they show an improved pass rush and WR play. The running game and defense is there though. Need to see more from them before I'd put them ahead of SD, NE and Indy.

Great article.

I'll reserve judgement until I see them wipe the floor with the Titans and Colts.  I do have REALLY HIGH hopes for the team though and would expect to see another playoff run.   IMO, we have to take the division to be a superbowl contender.

Not this team,,to many injuries and the players are obvious  focused on other things than playing football ie its a week or two before a big game big opponet so why is Taylor and Collier out at night clubs,,Taylor should not even be in South Florida and certainly not in a night club(I know he lives there.) There other issue also Matt Jones and Dennis Northcutt. This team is not focused on winning a champinship I do hope they prove me wrong, but I dont think so. We will see after the next 4 games we will know how focused they really are!!!!

Interesting...Colts lost a lot of meat the last two seasons, Brady just went down, SD or Denver may be the problem...I'll wait to see the week 2 adjustments.

Do you really think the players aren't focused on playing football? In case you didn't realize, they lost on the road by 7 to a playoff team from last year. The Jags went 11-5 and won a playoff game. They are focused on football. And why is Northcutt an issue?

They will need to find an O line... they will not win many games unable to pass protect or run block.
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

QuoteAnd why is Northcutt an issue?

Probably because he is being accused of hiring his cousin to disfigure a woman's face & harm her unborn child
- just sayin'.

BTW - If I were to wager, I'd lean toward the whole story being a money grabbing scheme.

Exactly. No criminal charges were filed.

All of the stars appeared to align for the Jaguars this year.  Unfortunately, it turns out they were aligning for some other team.  Brady going down, the Colts looking pedestrian against the Bears, SD losing, Pittsburgh having a brutal schedule.  It all looked there for the Jaguars to go out and grab home field this season.  Now the interior of our offensive line is a backup and two 3rd stringers.  Our vaunted rushing attack will likely be cut down to size this season.  I will continue to support the team as fervently as I always have, but I must totally disagree with Simmons on this one.  Of course, in his defense, he had no idea of knowing that the Jaguars would suffer such a cruel fate on the offensive line by Week 2.
