Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center opens

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The new $185.2 million, 67,000 square foot Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center opened Saturday. The facility, known as ARTIC, serves Amtrak, Metrolink commuter trains, buses, and taxis. The new station is 1,000 feet east of the old station.

Anaheim city officials plan a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, and an open house from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 13 that will feature live entertainment, food trucks, and a group bicycle ride along the Santa Ana River Trail.

Construction of the transit center started in September 2012, with funds from the state and federal governments and Measure M, the county's half-cent sales tax approved by voters to pay for transit projects across the region. Official expects the station to handle 10,330 daily boardings across all modes, with 540,000 Amtrak and Metrolink rail passengers using the station each year.
