Press Release

For Immediate Release

Veterans United Craft Brewery will host Master Sergeant John C. Burnam (USA, Ret.) for a presentation and signing of his memoir, "Canine Warrior: How a Vietnam Scout Dog Inspired a National Monument," on Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

"Canine Warrior" is a riveting, first-hand account of MSG Burnam's combat experiences as a German Shepherd Scout Dog Handler in the 44th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon during the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Army, the highly decorated veteran embarked on a quest to bring awareness to the courage, loyalty, and sacrifice of our nation's four-footed warriors and their handlers. Fueled by his love and commitment to honor these special members of our armed forces, MSG Burnam propelled a campaign which culminated in the founding of the U.S. Military Working Dog Teams National Monument in San Antonio, Texas, in 2013.

MSG Burnam's passion and dedication inspired Veterans United to name one of our craft beers, Scout Dog 44 Amber Ale, in recognition of all military working dog teams, and is available on draft in the taproom and in select retail locations throughout Jacksonville.

The presentation and book signing will be held in the new Special Events room adjacent to the taproom, located at 8999 Western Way #104, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Books will be available for purchase.

Admission to this event is free and open to the public.

As with all taproom events, you are welcome to bring well-behaved and leashed dogs.

Plan on attending and stay up to date on all the details on the Facebook event page. Cheers!
