Very Positive. Who wants to kayak and fish Downtown?

The support that the city has given to US Soccer has been incredible. And I am glad it has not gone unnoticed.

Awesome article on an awesome event. Well done all around.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

This article is exactly what I needed to read after the finish to yesterday's game.  Now I'm fired up again...  :D

Seriously, great article, and it's great to see all of the people who have been active in bringing the US men and women here.  Hopefully this enthusiasm continues when Armada FC starts playing next spring.

I loved this quote:

Quote"Game day itself was the highlight for me," said Jaguars SVP of Communications, Dan Edwards. "The atmosphere in and around the stadium was electric and that is the kind of environment we want to see at Jaguars games."

I think with Bold City Brigade and Teal Street Hooligans, along with the continued improvement of the Jaguars, we will start seeing this kind of atmosphere at Jaguars games in the future.

If the US is awarded the 2022 World Cup, Jax is in a good position to host one of the matches.

Great story; well done.  The dog tag feature was outstanding.

Great article. I was at the game and it was a blast. It was fun to re-experience it through the background and interviews provided in this article. Thanks.

As I huge fan of soccer/football, I am really proud that Jax supports soccer so well and am looking forward to the Armada being a big success.

Here is my question: WHY is Jax such a soccer town?

Tacachale

Jacksonville is a good sports town with a long history of supporting niche sports. We also hadn't hosted any national team games or had a local pro team for over 10 years, so the growth in interest wasn't as obvious as it might have been (and of course, it's made people more pumped when we do get the opportunity).

For national team games, we're well positioned to take advantage of folks coming in from out of town. People from most parts of Florida can be in Jacksonville in a few hours, but unlike most other Florida cities, people in Georgia and the Carolinas can also be here in a few hours.

Great article, I'm so excited that Jacksonville is a soccer town. I think the Armada will do well here.  I was at the match with Germany in 1999, Landon Donovan and Damarcus Beasley played a U17 match that day as well.  Fired up for Thursday and the rest of the WC!

Thanks for the theories, Stephen & Tacachale. Especially like the idea of a surf, skate, soccer triangle. I definitely remember the Tea Men era and participating in the little league soccer leagues that were part of it. (I also don't recall american football being the juggernaut that it is now; most of my contemporaries were at least equally -- probably more -- interested in MLB and NBA relative to NFL in the 80s/early 90s).

Hopefully Armada FC helps Jax capitalize on its affinity for football and adds to Jax's emerging "new" identity.
