Jerry Moran Needs to Control Parking Downtown For His Restaurant at Night.

That garage is now a city owned and managed garage. It was previously managed by Republic Parking, which I want to say is the infamous Mark Rimmer, but I'm not 100% sure.

And yes, I completely agree. There's no reason to not have this garage opened, especially since it's an automated garage.

La Cena, or any other restaurant in the area can certainly approach COJ regarding paying for a parking validation program at the Duval Street garage for their customers, which would in turn allow that garage to stay open later (you have to offset increased labor costs to staff the parking garage being open longer hours... with increased revenue. Anyone with business acumen can understand that). Problem solved.

Right now, the garage closes at 8pm.

How did the eight o'clock close time get set? If you go to a city council meeting, for instance, you may be there much later than that. Isn't this garage automated?

Not sure how that helps Moran and his business, unless they are old grey-hairs on there for the early-bird special.

QuoteTime for Jerry to find a valet service.

Jerry, I'm a broke college student, but I will spend $100 on spaghetti and a meatball if you bring valet parking. I can't imagine how this would hurt you.

Regarding valet service (and I am certainly no expert as to the law here) but it may be difficult to do a designated drop off and pick up lane (you probably need three consecutive parking lanes to accomplish this) on the public right of way (city street) as the spaces belong to the general public.

Not sure the JSO would allow this unless the city council writes in a new ordinance perhaps.

I know we have always been concerned about that aspect. For sure JSO put an end to the valet service that was doing drop offs/pick ups in front of TSI a few years back.

And even if you did try it you need to be able to have a place to park cars and not be so far away that it takes too long to retrieve them in a timely fashion.

Go into Avondale on a busy night and look at the Popsicle stand that the Valet company has at Ingleside and St. Johns. Basically a sign, a stool and an umbrella at the intersection of a very busy street. It can be done downtown very easily.

That's a pretty standard set up from what I have seen...
