If you enjoy live music performances in Jacksonville, chances are you’ve attended an event at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, the Florida Theatre or perhaps the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Jacksonville is blessed to be home to a number of prestigious venues with the capacity to hold vast audiences and globally recognized artists. Disappointing that there is no review of Monty's, where you frequently find good local talented acts. But then again, perhaps the reporter does not know of Monty's, in the heart of Avondale.

For those not in the know, Monty's is also known as West End Cantina....and while it does sometimes often some good live music, it is by no means on the level of these other 10 in terms of attendance capacity.

I'll toss in Deep Search Records in Five Points. Very cool environment for live shows. Been to a few at Bold Bean as well (awhile ago).

And note that Friday Musicale is the oldest, still-active performance venue in the state of Florida.

Solid list. I've seen my fair share of shows at all of them. The Freebird is one of the best places to see a band perform in the country.

It's actually the West Inn Cantina and amongt old timers there is debate about whether it was previously known as Monty's or Monte's.  Of course the old, old timers will sometimes refer to it as where Hay's Place used to be.

Whichever, they still have the coldest beer on St. Johns.

So there's now a rating system based on attendance levels? If so, where is Met Park on this list?

The criteria in the original post was

catch a more intimate, localized show, here's a list of smaller, no-frills, live music venues

and Monty's or as outsiders call it, West Inn Cantina, can certainly deliver on the original criteria.
