I was watching the Today show on NBC this morning at 9:20 and they mentioned that Colorado Spring was the best place for dog ownership and Jacksonville Florida as the not so best place for dog ownership. I love dogs; however, I have a cat at the moment. So what's not so good about dog ownership in Jacksonville all you dog owners?  :-\

We are 48th out of the top 50... there are a LOT of other cities that didnt even make the list...

Here is the Map from the source...

I want to contact each stop on the route to find out if they have the necessaries for dogs, like a water bowl, maybe some doggy treats and a scope bag just in case. Anybody want to help? I could start at the top of the list and somebody could start at the bottom.

Personally, I don't know why anyone would say this isn't a good city for dog ownership...I have 2 and just about everyone I know has at least 1. Granted there's not much in the way of dog parks, but to me, that's not really important...as mine are older and not really interested in socializing with others.

The Springfield Animal Care & Rescue is working with the city to create a dog park inside of Confederate Park...so there will eventually be a doggie park in our neighborhood.

Will California get a nuclear powered electric generating station before Jacksonville gets a dog park?

No, it's just about a done deal...we're just waiting for the rest of the money to come in from those that signed letters of intent.

SACARC

It is indeed almost a done deal. We have to collect $5000 in donations to meet the Mayor's Matching Grant. So if anyone would like to contribute specifically to helping us make the downtown FREE dog park a reality, please contact us at sacarc@gmail.com. We'll be happy to accept your check!  ;D

I may consider matching the tips given to me one night at the late night hot dog cart to support our canine friends.   You could bring your dog to show your support!

Has there been any progress toward collecting the $5000 in donations to meet the granting guidelines?

They have made some progress.

They still need help. Im sure they would greatly appreciate any help sacarc@gmail.com if you have any questions.

They will be on Good Morning Jacksonville in the morning (7/3) to talk about fund raising they are doing for their rescue pets at the throwback baseball game.

No, Art Walk has been canceled because of the Holiday.

Who would I contact at Art Walk to discuss adding dog friendly stops to the route?  Basically, I think it would be nice to denote each stop with a waterbowl for dog friendly places.

Yesterday some lady on CNN said the proposed CA law forcing spray or nutter would control the animal population. Hey lady do me and Yoghi a favor by going home to be with your family  and don't force medical proceedures on my family and pet cat!
