negativity of posts

I am a relative newcomer to these boards and I really enjoy them  However I am amazed with the negativity of many of the posts.  Possible new projects are announced as was the case today, and right away many negative posts appear.  It would seem that anyone considering the area reading these types of posts would have some doubts.  I personally feel the area has a lot to offer and find the city beautiful.  Perhaps someone could clarify why these attitudes about Jacksonville exist so frequently.  I am not trying to be critical of these posters, just trying to understand.
Thank you

^^^I totally agree with you!! I'm cool with people criticizing Jax went it is deserved, but even when positive things happen in the city, there always are those negative people who always have to make an obligatory slight. Whenever Jax is ranked high on a list with something, predictably someone always have to discredit Jax's high rankings with so called 'true sources'. The negative crap is out of my control, so I just bear with it no matter how tiresome it is.

Well not surprised I-10 has chimed in. He's Jax's biggest cheerleader. I seriously doubt anyone on this board is so harsh to warrant a thread about post. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I choose to not walk with blinders on. Anyone with half of a brain who drives DT Jax knows that a lot of work needs to be done. Its difficult to get things done when the city has been hand cuffed with poor leadership for decades.

DT Jax is a disgrace, there's nothing wrong with pointing out your faults, it's the only way you can improve. I say disgrace because of all the natural resources this area is blessed with. The people who always run to the defense of Jax, I say you are part of the problem, you are the reason the city is in the state it is in now. Residents of Jax need to stand up and hold city officials accountable for their jobs and actions. Problems never get solved pretending they don't exist.

Being born and raised in Jax I demand better leadership, because I love my city. I will not sit back and pretend all is well when I know its not. If you cant deal with different opinion on a message board, you shouldn't be here. ( I send this message with no anger or hate, thanks)  :)

Yup, the person just posted it only for sh*ts & giggles... Apparently you missed the part when I said "I'm cool with people criticizing Jax when it's deserved". I guess that I'm just a big rah rah Jax cheerleader for not criticizing the city on it's stance concerning 'illegal artistically painted' electrical boxes (the latest negative craze). I actually think the design of the proposed new Greyhound Bus Station is very lackluster; So I do not have these so called 'permanent happy blinders' that you speak of. Yin & Yang; Everything in the city isn't constantly covered by dark melancholy skies Keith. So just go on and act like every negative rant is fair and reasonable. Talk about blinders.

I thinks its just certain people. I know sometimes I make a post, and people jump all over me like white on rice, which is a little over the top for me. Everyone on here is entitled to their opinion, even if it doesnt agree with yours. Ive even had some follow me from topic to topic and purposely commenting on everything I posted to try and piss me off. The only reason it stopped is because everyone picked up on it and told the person to chill out. Overall, its very positive and constructive conversation on MJ, but it can get a little childish at times.

Wait. What? A negative post about negative posts?

There's a fine line between skepticism and cynicism. Skepticism is just thinking critically and not accepting things at face value.  Cynicism is automatically assuming the worst.  It can be very hard sometimes not to become cynical.

Especially when it comes to Jacksonville.  YearsDecades of failed policies makes it all too easy to be cynical in this town.

I think there is a difference between negativity and debate.  I think this site has provided some great debates and teaches much about the problems our city faces and solutions to remedy the problems.  Actually, I feel that most of the consensus on this site has lead to great things for the city.  I also feel that MJ is a place where diverse political parities can come together and talk about solutions without the corrupt obligations our politicians always bend to.  I have learned a lot on here.

This is such a stupid thread. Typical Jacksonville. Build another stripmall. Thanks Obama.
