Downtown reuse seeking DIA funding

Dont think ive seen this mentioned on the forums yet. Will be up for approval next week...seeking $100k from the DIA and $75k from historic preservation fund. Space between Florida Theater and Casa Dora. Likely to be a restaurant.

The owner was before the Historic Preservation Commission this week asking for landmark status, which is needed for the incentives mentioned in the article.  The HPC approved so it is going to City Council.  Nice plans to return the building to a more original look.

I think it's been brought up before that a lot of these historic buildings that got covered with concrete were for energy efficiency. With modern insulation and interior design, this isn't necessary anymore. Restoring this facade should not only return it to a more attractive appearance, but activate the store front on the street level. That could be a great addition to the street.
