George Zimmerman was arrested Monday afternoon in central Florida "after deputies responded to a disturbance call," the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Further details about Zimmerman's arrest in Apopka, Fla., were not immediately released. He will be booked at the county's correctional facility, the sheriff's office said.

This is one of several brushes that Zimmerman has had with law enforcement since he was acquitted this year of murder and manslaughter in the 2012 shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin.

Earlier this month, police in Lake Mary, Fla., said no charges will result from an alleged domestic dispute in September between George Zimmerman and his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman.

Since his acquittal in the Martin case, Zimmerman also has been stopped for speeding twice. He was pulled over the first time in Forney, Texas, in July and told the police officer he had a concealed weapon permit and a gun in his glove compartment. The officer wrote on his incident report that he gave Zimmerman a verbal warning.

Zimmerman was pulled over in early September going 60 mph in a 45-mph zone in Lake Mary and received a $256 ticket. He was not carrying a weapon at the time

This is what was so stupid about moving as fast as they did to arrest him. The guy was going to do something stupid to lead cops to the evidence they needed to convict, if only they had waited.

JeffreyS

The cops helped him get off. They pointed a camera at him and said give your story present it as your testimony so  you can tell your side without the prosecutor ever getting to cross examine you.

who cares really at this point.  just another one of those crazy white hispanics

We should all care that the laws have been warped to make sure fewer gun crimes can be prosecuted so that person like this who should have been jailed have since threatened 3 separate people with a gun. This is in just a few months of him getting away with murder.

:oWho all has he threatened? He probably only told the cop he had a gun so that when he opened his glove compartment the cop wasnt alarmed to see it.

JeffreyS

In two separate incidents since his acquittal he has allegedly threatened his estranged wife and father with a gun and now his current girlfriend with a shotgun.  The policeman issue was a disorderly incident long ago that I don't believe involved a gun or a threat.

You do know that it is the job of the police to investigate and conduct interviews in cases like this, don't you?  What you have is a case of she said, he said and the cops can't just take someone's word when there is little to back up the claims, they have to investigate the allegations.

It could very well be that Zimmerman did do what his girlfriend claimed this time, but they still have to investigate so they have the evidence to make the charges stick.

JeffreyS

I am not saying don't investigate.  Just don't produce a propaganda film for anyone.

Don't you think we have more than just He said She said?  We have she said, weeks ago we another she said and her father said, months ago we have a He's not able to say because of the bullet Z admits to putting in him, we have a proven involvement in perjury  and before that a history of dozens of what the police say were nuisance 911 calls.

Once someone's talking, the cops are trained to get the tape recorder going and get the hell out of the way. 99% of the time it works in their favor, people who are lying generally can't hold their story together for any length of time, an elaborate lie is extraordinarily difficult to keep up. The police hold the tape and compare it to anything he says later, and if someone's lying inconsistencies will emerge. Zimmerman remained largely consistent throughout his interviews, which as much we all don't like it, is an indicator that he was probably being truthful.

That's not to say he didn't hit his wife in this case, I really don't know the facts. But the point I'm getting at is the cops did exactly what they were supposed to. Also bear in mind that Zimmerman's father is a judge in that circuit, and their family is pretty well-off, and the suspect was cooperating voluntarily during the interviews. Under those circumstances, you can't go all Rambo on him or he'll just demand his lawyer and it's game over. I thought law enforcement handled the investigation pretty well, considering it was a small department, but that's just one man's opinion.

JeffreyS

You make an excellent point about the video.
