Jacksonville is loaded with great BBQ places, with the mustard based sauces you cant beat it! and again we take no credit for something that is unique and done well here.

Overstreet

Plenty of traffic pass that location daily. So much that getting there might be interesting at lunch. However it is close to I-95 and Baymeadows. Maybe a block east of I-95 so ingress and egress isn't too bad. I think too there is a back entrance to the parking lot that will allow you to get back onto Baymeadows at the light so you can go east or west no matter the Baymeadows traffic.

Construction seems to have been going on remodeling around six months. They should be getting ready soon.

You are so right fsujax, this guy IS FROM JACKSONVILLE! But then come to think of it, so is 1/2 of the entire damn skyline of Miami... Financed from JACKSONVILLE. Henry M. Flagler, Henry B. Plant, Sir Edward J. Reed, William Boyd Barnett, Alfred I. du Pont... and the list just keeps going. Meanwhile back to BBQ, this is how we roll in Jacksonville!

I haven't been yet, but people have been raving about this place.  They will go out of their way to mention it.  We won't even be talking about food and they'll just tell me I have to go to 4 Rivers.

Word is that John Rivers also plans to open at least 2 more locations in Jax, and prefers non-typical locations.  His restaurants become destinations that people will travel to and he knows it.  Springfield, Murray Hill, I'm lookin' at you.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

Well worth the 15+ minute wait in line.

Great place.

Yes, this place is pretty good.  If you don't want to wait, get take out.  It's still worth it.

have been 5+ times since they have opened.  All the food has been excellent, except the mac and cheese which was overly salty.  Service has been outstanding and I think the prices are reasonable.

KenFSU

Crazy how polarizing the mac and cheese is.

People either really, really love it, or really, really dislike it.

I'm a sucker for the corn and the baked beans.

The bakery is pretty fantastic too (Red Velvet Twinkie, FTW).

I thought the same about the corn...  It is amazing what can be donewith something as simple as corn.

Second location announced for Orange Park.  Right next to my office!  Going in the old Ryan's Steakhouse/Quincy's/Denver's Steakhouse/Something with wolf in the name bar.  Nothing seems to stay in this place, but 4 Rivers is different.

So...where will the next one be?

Eagerly anticipating - I believe that the owner has JAX ties.  There's a life size bronze longhorn already in place at the street.

As an alumnus of Oklahoma State, I kind of have a problem with longhorns!  ;D

Hook 'em Horns!  :)

Meat's pretty good, sides are ok.  I still give Mojo the edge.
