Best Vietnamese in town

Has anyone been to Pho Viet on Mayport Rd. in Atlantic Beach? I'll never look at PK Noodles the same again...

No, haven't tried them yet.  I like Bowl of Pho on Old Baymeadows Rd.  Also, Saigon Time on Cassat at I-10 was good but they are remodeling now.

I'm a Bowl of Pho fan, albeit never tried PK Noodles...

Never get out to Mayport Rd., but if I do, I'll try it....

Pho-Cali in the Ramada Inn off University & 95 (Cagle Rd) is a surprisingly good joint. I've only been a few times but it seems to match up to Bowl of Pho.

Had Pho Viet this afternoon and it really is the best I've had- their menu is amazing, easily twice the size of other local places- lots of really interesting appetizers too. We had these little pork dumplings that are steamed in banana leaves and the beef wraps and they were both fantastic. I had the bun bo hue (spicy soup), she had the brisket and flank pho and they were better than any version I've had elsewhere in town. They also make their own hot pepper/garlic paste, which I wish they sold because I would seriously add it to everything. Mayport's a bit of a drive from here but from now on, Pho Viet is it for us.

Just bumping the thread to suggest Pho Ha Noi to folks on the west side. I'll still give the overall edge to Pho Viet but it's a heck of a drive. The food at Ha Noi is really good, they do offer a couple of non-standard items like hot pots. If you want a really good, quick lunch, I'd suggest the bahn mi, they're cheap and really good.

They're in the shopping center over on Blanding near 103rd, where Suncoast Comics used to be. I've only been at lunch and we were the only folks there, hope they do well though.

Haven't been to Pho Ha Noi yet. How far away from Riverside are they? I'm obsessed with Bowl of Pho on Baymeadows, so it would be tough to break my habit, but I'm always down for something new. What Bowl of Pho doesn't have is hot pots and bahn mis.

I live on McDuff, it's about 6 miles from me.

I had a few pretty good experiences at Bowl of Pho but my last two trips there were a let down, haven't been in a long time. Pho itself is pretty hard to mess up but I really like the beef stew style soup with the tomato base, carrots and all that. BoP had a really awesome one but the last two times I ordered it, it was just barely brown broth with absolutely no hint of tomato in it. Had it at Pho Ha Noi, it was really great.

Right now, Ha Noi is easily my no. 2 spot, it's location is perfect for me.

I tried Pho Viet on Mayport Road today.  It was great.  The menu's a bit more expansive than most of these places.  However; my favorite remains Pho King (AKA PK Noodles) on Beach Blvd.  Quality is consistent, service is zippy, and the place is spotless.  On top of that, it has a Pho King great name! 

Pho Hanoi is a bit cheaper than the competition.  They've been getting my business lately because I live on the West Side. No Pho King, but sometimes I don't feel like burning $5 worth of gas to get lunch.

I've never tried Bowl of Pho.  Passed it once and it was packed.  Notice it got slammed by the inspectors last month.

PK Noodles has the best spring rolls. I think my favorite soup from there is their hue hot soup, it's hotter there than at other places I've tried.

One thing Pho Viet has done that other places haven't (that I know of) is bring us shrimp paste with our soup- holy moly. It's like anchovies mixed with rocket fuel, mixes great with the soup.

1) Cali Pho-  hidden spot off University and I-95.  Very small mom & pop place.
2) Pho Hanoi- Great fresh rolls and generous amounts of pho
3) PK Noodles/Pho King-  I just like the name    Very funny if you pronounce pho correctly. (pho is pretty great too)

They're all pretty great.  Just depends on what part of town I'm in that day.

Vietnamese food is Jacksonville's hidden secret. It's amazing how many places we have that serve quality Vietnamese.

I can't say that it's 'the best' because I haven't tried it, and was just scavenging for a Vietnamese food thread,  but 'Yummy Pho' has opened on Normandy, in the old Arby's building.

Used to enjoy that place until it was shut down for pretty serious health code violations.
