Huh?  What fence?
The charming new accoutrement to our park. Nothing shouts, "Welcome!" quite as much as a chain link fence. I know I would just love to enter those gates. Not without police escort of course.

Seriously? They fenced in the entire block? What is wrong with the people who make these decisions? Contrary to what certain poets believe, good fences do not make good neighbors.

ssky, where did you get the idea or the rumor of a fence? Next DIA Board meeting anyone can ask about this.

I think being Jacksonville we deserve Storm Troopers.

Just walked over to look at it.  It's in front of the Dalton Agency, black, the chain link type, about six feet high, closing in about 1K sq. ft., without barbed wire at the top. There is one gate, currently unlocked.  Installed by Newsom Fence.

I suspect it has at least two functions; one is to isolate and protect the several utility boxes within, such as small transformers perhaps, junction boxes, perhaps plumbing junctions, even some kind of fan.. . perhaps an a/c unit for possible underground utilities. The other function is perhaps to prevent a fleeing or sleeping person to easily hide behind the various boxes and shrubs.

Looks reasonably attractive.

Does is make sense?  Well .... Any fence in an environment such as a park seems to be somewhat of a negative, given the nature of a park.  However, given that there are utilities above ground in the park, and given the necessity to provide safety, and avoid providing a hiding place for the fugitive types, it seems to be a reasonably placed fence...... my opinion.

i'm very confused.  i was just there this morning, and the only fence i saw was the one blocking off part ov the skyway station while they bang on the columns.

Drove by today and saw the fence. Not a deal breaker but how much did it cost? Just curious with all the pending activity with tree removal andpotential table and chair removal the actual process that resulted in this action. Was this DVI? Or DIA?
