Timothy Richard Tebow for BSC

^Verily.

Actually I don't doubt his "physical ability", he was a very effective college QB and he can run with the best of them, what I doubt is that he'll ever be a good pro quarterback. I'd take him as a TE.

And I can't speak for NRW, but fin my case, no one, in any circumstance, has ever mistaken me for a "great athlete". My mom thinks pretty highly of me though.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Captain Zissou

NRW- Are you having a bad week?  Do you want to talk about it?

I don't think anyone is opposing you i your rant, and yet you continue to keep it going.  There is a time and a place for that.  It's called a diary, not a forum.

"West side the Best side"  Why do you knock a great athlete who has character?

You know, BSC, I ask members of his overzealous fanbase a similar question, 'Why do you continue to put TT on a pedestal when it's painfully obvious he doesn't belong there?"

TRT, was a great college athlete, you can't deny that.  But his lack of talent as a passer was overshadowed by his size and his ability to make something out of nothing.  The only passes that he completed that garnered any attention were his basketball, jump passes deep in the red zone.

His size and physicality made him a beast on the field.  Much like other guys speed make them uncatchable.  Others tenacity makes them unblockable.   The difference is, BSC, is that the NFL is the best of the best of the best.  I think we can agree on that.  The skillset that made TT so productive in college is absolutely neutralized in the NFL - every lineman is 330lbs+, every linebacker is 250lbs+ and runs a 4.6 - generally speaking, there are no weak teams.  In the NFL for TT to become even a mediocre starting QB, he has to be able to throw the football - he hasn't proven he can do that yet.

But.....

For some reason, there is the mass of population that has him on this pedestal and they refuse to believe that he already doesn't do all these things.  Most of them regurgitate the same lines I presented above and have ZERO football acument.  There are some who don't even watch football, they're just 'believers'.  So it gets a little absurd when there are tens of thousands of people, who don't even watch football, jumping into conversations and on message boards to spread the TT fantasy - it get's old and is really the only reason that I trash TT.

Do I think that he's an NFL caliber QB?  No.  Can he be?  Yes.  Do I think he has NFL talent?  Yes.  As probably a 3rd string QB or a fullback or a linebacker.  I don't say these things to be mean, but when you really stop and consider the role he played in college, which of those 3 do you really think better suits him?  I throw LB in because of his size, his speed and the fact that as a QB, he understands offenses and would be good at dissecting plays as/before they happen as a defender.

Regarding his character...  I've never said anything negative towards his character.  You can put me in the column of people who truly believe that he's using the NFL to propel his message and nothing more.  I have never heard a negative word come from his mouth and it still amazes me his dexterity in interviews to not give the answer that everyone expects.  His character is as spot on as it can be.  It's his zombie following that needs to take look on the inside and really ask themselves, 'What would Timmy Do?"

Now, BSC, there's a small novella as to why I bash TT, and I'll ask you the same question that I ask all acolytes, "Why do you continue to put TT on a pedestal when it's painfully obvious he doesn't belong there?"

His athletic ability, and character in my answer.

Wow.  Then keep banging the drum.

BSC, all joking and Tebow ridicule aside, a lot of Jaguar fans get frustrated at those who admire Tebow as greatly as you do not because they are disparaging Tebow personally, but because pro-Tebow and anti-Jaguars sentiment often seem to be entertwined.  It manifests itself most perversely when this group openly roots for the Jaguars to fail or relocate as revenge for their not having acquired Tebow.  The national media picks up on those in Jacksonville who are Tebow fans first and use this as a vehicle to bludgeon Jacksonville as a college-first, minor-league town that cares more about one of its former citizens than about rooting for its home team.

One of the big frustrations for me in this is that the local press issues endless paeans to Tebow's character while (comparatively) ignoring the many good character people on the Jaguars who are active in the community.  I don't see how Tebow's character is measurably more impressive than that of Daryl Smith, Tyson Alualu, Montell Owens, Russell Allen, Brad Meester, Rashad Jennings, or many other Jags who actively support local charities and set good moral examples in their words and actions.  Yet there seems to be a thought pattern endemic to Tebow fans that he is the only athlete in the community who's charitable and displays good character.  And he's not even in the community anymore.

If it comes down to a question of his faith or his local ties, well, Rashean Mathis is a Jacksonville native who's charitably inclined and overt in speaking about his faith, and though his career is winding down, he's been an effective player for years.  Why laud the departed Tebow over him?

It's almost like there's a sense of denial in the Tebow fan community that anyone can be worth rooting for to the extent that he is, to the detriment of interest in supporting the hometown team, which is not a good thing for Jacksonville.  I don't live in Jacksonville, I'm 600 miles away, but I buy season tickets every year and travel to games because I believe in Jacksonville's ability to support an NFL franchise, don't want the city to endure national media humiliation from the perceptions of its lack of support (or a potential move), and want to put my money where my mouth is on the subject.  It's exceptionally frustrating to me when I've made that kind of a commitment to see local people say "the Jaguars can go rot because they didn't get my boy Tebow."

I don't know that you put being a fan of Tebow ahead of being a fan of the Jaguars and it's unfair of me to assume that, but whenever I see "the Jags are idiots for not getting Tebow" sentiment I tend to assume "they can move to L.A. for all I care" is coming next based on experience, and I tend to get viscerally angry at that.  I think this probably is true for most Jaguar fans who go out of their way to point out Tebow's lack of passing success, etc.

While is exactly my argument for the Jaguars picking him up. It would:

Silence the nonsense

Fill seats (at least for several games)

Gives him a shot at being that NFL QB at home where he is obviously loved.

Lastly, as a 3rd string backup to our backup, Tebow would have those fleeting chances to play the game without breaking the bank.

If Chuck Norris tells you to do something, well you'd best do it.
Plus Shad can then have movie stars in his suite each week. Fly them in from LA on his jet.
Oh yeah, getting Tebow on the team has endless advantages!
I hear all the negatives and maybe the naysayers are correct.
But, what the hell do they really have to lose?
He's available for probably a song.
I would do that deal yesterday.

I say Timmy had his chance...and he said no thanks

I love how it makes more sense to people to "fill seats for a couple weeks" than it does to have a winning season. 31 other teams have looked at him and 7 coaches have publicly stated, "though Tim Tebow can bring a lot to a team, not as a QB".  Yet, Tebow fanatics are more than happy to sacrifice 2 or 3 more loss seasons just to bring him back to Jacksonville. Not once has Tebow said, "If they would take me, I'd like to go to the Jaguars" nor has Khan or any coach said likewise.  Personally, I feel that it is Tebow's media people along with fanatic fans keeping this is the media.  I feel this way because I think little Timmy can do a lot more outside of NFL, and all this free advertising is part of a bigger picture. I am a Gators and Jaguars fan and I like Tebow, but he isn't Super Man.  Sorry Tebow fanatics.  Maybe you should start campaigning Tebow for FL Governor.
Proud supporter of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Yep.  I, for one, can't wait to hear his in-depth analysis.   Especially when he starts breaking down the mechanics of the quarterbacks on the field:

"Well, golly gee Mr. Corso, did you see how that guy was holding the ball.  Shucks.  He just held that darn thing by his waist while staring down the receiver.  He's darn lucky it was only a sack and he didn't fumble the ball.  Now I'm a big believer in his courage to even try to throw the ball in those situations.  Heck, Mr. Corso, I personally believe with all my heart that if he would have just had a little more faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and put his head down to run, he might've just gotten that first down.  Now a word from our sponsors, Trojan condoms.  It's a good thing my daddy used a Durex or I wouldn't be here right now.  God bless."

....I think I should make a drinking game.

I also think that if I do, I may not see 12:30pm on any given Saturday....

and I would be fine with that.
