Local Business Owner Trashes Jacksonville in Pitch for "Reality" Show

My hairdresser told me about this.  Long story short, some vapid, wannabe elitist piece of trash came to Jacksonville, opened a salon, then wanted to make a "reality" show about how she's a terrible human being.  In doing so, she spends a lot of time trashing on Jacksonville, how it's full of rednecks living in trailers, wearing flip flops (god forbid), etc., etc.  Link to the article and link to youtube are below.  Take the time to show her a little of your civic pride because this is just BS in my opinion.  Wendy, if you hate Jacksonville so much and think this is beneath you, then please, by all means, get the hell out.  I hope this awful woman's business fails miserably.

She did some major back-peddling on this entire thing.  Here is the YouTube link...

A special WTF shout out to Stargrove films for producing this garbage.  The stated goal of the owner, Alison Myers is to "see the film industry flourish in Jacksonville. She is working with the city as well as local production houses to increase the visibility of the talent that lies with in the city in order to help create more jobs and revenue for Jacksonville."

Producing something that goes out of its way to make mis-portray Jacksonville as one big trailer park full of toothless inbreds will go far to that end.  Thanks, Alison!

I know some will argue this is satire because of the obvious, crappy acting, but satire is supposed to be funny.

I'm quite sure that some misguided MJer will find a way to defend these people; Oh it's all in good fun right? Yeah right. I'm with you  Hypno, I hope that salon closes due to lack of business. It's not smart to diss the city where your clientele lives. Another reason to hate the ultra boastful South Florida; Bigger metros aren't that cocky. Maybe she should consider heading down I-95 South back to Northern Cuba.

Ocklawaha

Just imagine the booming industry this will create, feature films and TV shows like:

'The Dukes of Duval'

'Cool Hand Jax' (Actually the REAL prison from 'Cool Hand Luke,' was here).

'Du-liverance'

'Phosphate miners daughter'

NEXT...?

^Any press is good press. The video creator is simply an aspiring silver-screen troll. We shouldn't feed it.

.
Can we really expect to take anything out of a hair salon seriously? Perhaps they could tie it into the mob at the nail salon next door. Are salon owners, workers, etc high social class? OR are they saying that they are a bad business person and located a "hoyty-toydy fru-fru" business in the wrong target market. Maybe they should put a few dead animals on the walls. Wear camo smocks. Park a jacked up pick up out front.  I'd be more inclinded to go there.
.
AND ....... I'm just thinking that it is not worth the effort to stop surfing the remote on this show.

I hope the show does well. Let her have her opinion. There is light somewhere at the end of the tunnel lol

Looks like this is one persons shot at capturing the viewing audience for "Honey Boo Boo".  lmbo  This woman has shown herself to be quite "classy" in her own right.  Have never watched Honey Boo Boo and would never watch this show either.  Look at it this way people, the folks who would watch the show are likely not the ones who will make or break the future of Jacksonville.  They will not visit downtown or the beach. The only surfing they may be doing is channel surfing while their backsides are planted firmly in a worn out recliner.  :)  Not worried!

Hopefully she got enough backlash to remove the video.

Sounds like she must have.  This was one person looking for the spotlight.  Perhaps this time it shone a bit to brightly.  lol
