A heads-up warning to those with Everhome mortgages

Earlier this week while using Mint.com I noticed that a fraudulent buyer-initiated digital check had appeared on my checking account for $29.95. From the information presented on the "image" of the fake check that you can view on Vystar's site/app I found a recent blog someone has created aggregating and updating as much information on this fraudulent activity that seems to be going around. From people commenting on the article that have had the same activity show up in their checking account, it's been discerned that almost everyone uses that particular account for online payment of their Everhome mortgage.

People first started contacting Everbank who said they did not believe they had been compromised, which appears to be true since a few other individuals have chimed in that they were hit as well, but don't have Everbank mortgages. These other banks do use the same payment processor as Everbank however, which is LPS. So there's a pretty good chance they're the source.

Since the author of that blog says that particular article is generating hundreds of page views a day, it's pretty safe to say this is fairly widespread. So if you have a mortgage through Everhome (or another lender that uses LPS), make sure to check that checking account for any checks in the amount of $29.95.
