JEA Site

Does anyone have any idea what's going on on the old JEA site on the Southbank?  A few weeks ago, someone laid down a large gravel loop on the grass, about the size of a soccer field put pointed at one end.  Now it looks like they're installing two dozen logs or utility poles vertically inside in the loop.  No one in my office can figure out what it's all for.

One coworker suggested a staging area for either the I-95 bridge rebuild or the riverwalk reconstruction.  Other guesses include revival tent, ropes course, and alien landing area (before the logs at least).  Anyone have the inside scoop?

I believe your right, about this being the staging area for all of the I-95 Beach blvd work. They can bring barges etc in and out with easy access to 95.

JEA is hosting a contest for line workers on that site in April.  I believe one of the events has to do with how quickly people can scale utility poles.

Does anyone have a clue as to what the Authority is doing as it relates to construction next to our St. Johns River our American Heritage River a FEDERAL Initiative in another Authority zone?

I just came to the forum specifically to post about this.

Field got it.  http://publicpower.com/florida-lineman-competition/

They also have a pretty good sized crawler crane over by tge seawall.  Not sure what they are doing over there, or if it's connected to the newly installed poles/competition.
