Thousands gather at harbor to send Ravens off to Super Bowl.

Is there a "send off on the river" in store for the Jaguars?

Per the Baltimore Sun:

Ray Lewis took the microphone and said one word three times: "Baltimore."

Staring out at thousands of people crowding the Harborplace Amphitheater, most of them holding cell phones or cameras aloft to capture the moment, the second player ever drafted by the Ravens launched into a short speech. The team was making a pit stop Monday on its way to the airport to fly to New Orleans for Sunday's Super Bowl, so these would be Lewis' last public comments in Baltimore as a member of the franchise he has come to personify.

"There is no Ravens without you guys," he said.

Behind him, his teammates also held their phones and cameras out.

"We're not going to New Orleans for nothing else but to bring a ring back to Baltimore," Lewis said.

Fans roared.

"That's what I came to hear," said Mike Dawson, of Essex.

A few fans had arrived for the Super Bowl Send Off Rally as early as 7 a.m. Others filtered in throughout the morning, ignoring the rain while staking out spots to see the stage or one of several giant-screen televisions. Coach John Harbaugh led the Ravens' entourage off the buses when they arrived to loud cheers at 12:15 p.m. Traffic delayed their police-led caravan on Interstate 695 while making the trip from Owings Mills. No one minded.

Harbaugh called Baltimore fans "the best in the world" and said those who couldn't make the trip to New Orleans would be there in spirit.

I've been past B-More, but never through the dense urban parts so someone tell me; Is the statement "Beautiful Baltimore Harbor" worthy of that lofty cliche (as said of every freakin' B-More related sportscast)? To me just looking at photos etc, I dunno if 'beautiful' is the word like it's doggone Miami, Hawaii, or San Diego somewhere. Maybe 'nicely developed' is more appropriate, similar to Milwaukee etc. B-More's skyline isn't exactly nothing the write about either, hell Jax's BOA, and Wells Fargo is taller than all of Baltimore's scrapers. One thing for sure, that top 10 crime rate certainly isn't beautiful. Marylanders, and other peeps that are familiar with B-More, I never been to the harbor, so I'm I off about the harbor actually being beautiful?

The Inner Harbor is amazing....one of the best public spaces in the country

and sorry, but skylines aren't all about building height...the view of downtown Baltimore from Federal Hill is pretty impressive

Is there a "send off on the river" in store for the Jaguars?

Per the Baltimore Sun:

There were only 24 people today at the full meeting of the Jacksonville Waterways Commission meeting that was putting together the 2013 FIND Prioritized Grant list. $100,000 and $100,000 of thousands of our Ad Valorem Property Taxes. Not one person from the media was there. Print, TV, or Radio. Counted just 4 people from the Public.

That "send off on the river" I'm All In.

Still looking for the LOST FIND thread. Today 1/29/14 the full Jacksonville Waterways Commission voted and approved the 2014 FIND grant project list 2014-22 that will now be going to the full Jacksonville city council for approval, changes or deletions. Our property tax money.
