QuoteJEA's board of directors voted Tuesday in favor of a 4.1 percent water rate increase after a group of residents, many of them on fixed incomes, spoke against the move.

The increase goes into effect Oct. 1 and is expected to raise most monthly water and sewer bills by $2.25. But when combined with electric rate increases, the average JEA customer can expect to be paying $25 more than in June.

"When will this stop? When can we get a breather?" asked Anthony Roberts, a Northside resident.

sorry Anthony...with consumer prices up the most in 26 years, i see no stop soon in inflation.  once it rears its ugly head (started a year or two ago) it takes a while to get going and then a while to stop.

Think of this as a "Water conservation incentive"... :D
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."
