Just a casual citizen question for the good old boys at JTA. Interestingly, As I spoke to Gillig, New Flyer and others all offer BRT BUSES. The Gillig model looks and has the feel of the new Jacksonville buses. There is only one thing...

something so obvious, none of us caught it... not even the old transportation guy...until now.

How many images have you seen with the "new BRT routes" showing the beautiful medians and stations in the median of certain roads? A dozen? A hundred? A thousand? THINK ABOUT THAT. If these new buses were indeed the "start of our BRT fleet order" then how does a passenger alight from those buses at a station in the median of Phillips Highway? Try it and your DEAD! OOPS, somebody forgot that BRT buses come ordered like Light Rail Vehicles, with DOORS ON BOTH SIDES. Center doors, low floors...

Somebody explain this please. I really want to see our passengers climbing out the left hand windows. In case you wondered how single door (RARE) streetcars did it in the middle of the street back in the day. Visit DALLAS, and your find streetcars have CONDUCTORS and a MOTORMAN. Car stops in the middle of a rural street, right hand door opens, Conductor alights using the rear view mirror for safety. He has a police whistle and a large "STOP" sign in his hand. He alights, stops the cars and allows his passenger safe passage.

Again, I want to see JTA do this with the new Gilligs. Makes you wonder what they are REALLY doing over on Myrtle Avenue.

"Oh Damn!"

"What's got yer dander up Earnest?"

"Well Leroy, dey done went and forgot deese damned doors!"

"Don'tcha worry none Earnest, I got a torch right here!"

"You go and fetch some sand paper, we're gonna need it

"Leroy, you reckon Mike will give us a raise fer dis idea?"

"Shut up and cut Earnest"
..."
