"I see my time with City Council as job assignment..."

WTF does that even mean?
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Mrs. Daniels says “I cast out demons”, that “I will die doing the work of the Lord”, and that she is “not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”, that “part of what we do at the church is deliverance, the ministry of casting out devils, which some call exorcism.”

Although I’ve not attended a church with anything approaching sincere intent since about 1955, and therefore have missed out on a lot of good things I’m sure, I sense the practical good which comes to the recipient or patient in the exorcism process.

A great percentage of what happens in a church environment, and certainly what happens during the process of “casting out demons”, seems to have solid beneficial consequences for the recipient of the cleansing.  And although many of us achieve inner “cleansing” or “rebooting” by other less obvious methods so that we might enhance our mental balance, the process of deliverance, exorcism, or cleansing engaged by Mrs. Daniels seems to be for those who cannot do the cleansing on their own.

So the results of deliverance, or cleansing, or exorcism, seems to be positive, in that it probably gives the recipient the ability to feel a release, an inner calm, to feel forgiven, to be given another chance to travel life’s roads with new confidence. Those of us who don’t engage the church system, or formal exorcism, to experience the liberating energy achieved via some sort of exorcism, or the casting out of demons, must do so ourselves by way of thinking through all aspects of the scenario which has allowed the accumulation of feelings of guilt, or caused us to feel obstructed in our desire to move forward with freedom and optimism.

If some of us were not able, by some lucky mental attribute, to accomplish the “rebooting” of our psyche on our own, we too might seek the services of a church, or a Mrs. Daniels.  In fact, many of our citizens do just that at the various churches, wherein they experience subtle and slow exorcisms each time they attend church.  For many individuals, church can be somewhat of a game, playing with the ideas of guilt, of sin, of forgiveness, of release, and of a new freedom, of a renewal of the spirit.

Although I’m certainly not a minister, I suspect that the “deliverance” or the “exorcism” is simply a way of forcing or allowing a balance upon the suffering patient, to give a much needed “release” of pressures built up by difficult living, so that he or she can feel “free”, and have another chance to begin fresh, and hopefully with better decision making abilities, perhaps with fewer of the deficiencies of character which caused their problems in the first place.

I suspect that psychiatrists or counselors assist patients by “digging” into the psyche to discover perhaps a “door” through which the “demons” can escape, giving the much needed release, so that life can proceed unhindered by the former chains of guilt or confusion.

In any case, it seems that Mrs. Daniels process of casting out demons holds some validity, although it is “taboo” from many perspectives.  The exorcisms have been performed by witch doctors, shamans, preachers, ministers, and priests for many centuries, and I expect that they will continue because of the “relief” and “cures” they seem to allow for the patients.

I do not mean to say that I believe in demons, as if they represented some concrete entity one might contemplate, but I do believe that people have “psychological” demons which must be serviced occasionally.

I am a newbie and as such will keep my comments limited.  That being said, after reading Kim Daniels "defense letter" concerning her decision to televise her exorcisms on Taboo, she states that "in a city that recently had so much focus on diversity, that should not be a problem.  I have a right to choose my lifestyle too".

Ms. Daniels comes across in this letter as someone Pro-Diversity as it applies to her and yet is so blatantly Anti-alternative lifestyle which others have the right to choose.  Her voting record clearly shows her bias and bigotry when it comes to civil rights and reaffirmed with FBC's church service congratulating those who voted Anti-Human Rights.

Shame on you Kim Daniels.  Didn't your Jesus come for the different, the down trodden, the least.  Shame on you.
