**Live Blogging City Council Meeting, 8-15-12

Full house tonight boys and girls,

It appears the majority of the room is in attendance specifically for the vote of bill 2012-296.

Upon arrival to City Hall, there were a group of children and several men protesting 296. They carried signs with Chik-fil-a symbols brightened with glitter. With the numbers 296 crossed out. The children chanting, "Vote no, vote no, vote no, vote no, let the people vote, so vote no." Members of the LGBT community asked why they were teaching children hate and the men responded that these children came to them and were worried about the decisions our city council members were making. Opposing sides were passing out the stickers that now have come to stand for two entirely different point of views. Tension is high. The room is full, and all city Council Members are in attendance except for Council member Lee.


On another note, the CC is acknowledging and blessing two young beauty queens in Jacksonville. These two super gals do it all and they have been adopted by the council as two of the best Jacksonville has to offer.

Next up: A presentation to honor and acknowledge our JEA linemen. The State of Representatives has designated August 26, 2012 as "Lineworkers Appreciation Day" in the State of FL.

Council Member Lee is giving her typical comedy routine. Revealing that often decisions are made in correlation with partisan beliefs. (Oh, Lee you are hysterical).

For those of you that followed the blog the past three Wednesdays for special joint meeting between Rules and Finance. The DIA legislation they were debating was passed this evening as well. Now the search can begin to find a leader and a team to create the plan for Downtown.
