Veggie Bin vs Black Hog Farms

Has anyone tried the delivery service for both of these?  Is one better than than the other?  Any differences (other than the optional meats with Black Hog and French Pantry with Veggie Bin)?  I currently have Veggie Bin every other week and am going to add Black Hog on my non Veggie Bin weeks to compare.  Will report results...

I've done both.  Both are very good.  I'm a little carniverous, so I like the fact that I can add meats with Black Hog... that being said I order from Veggie Bin more than Black Hog.

Really, you can't go wrong with either.

On a side note, the white corn from Black Hog last week was fantastic!

You can also go to the King Street Farmers Market this Wednesday from 11-2 across from the Burger King in b/w Garage/Walkers and the antique market... both are there.

Jax is lucky to have both of them. These kind of services were unheard of 5-10 years ago (in this town, at least). Love them both.

I get Black Hog delivered every other week. Its great every time, I have absolutely no complaints. Eggs, peanut butter, and honey as well are great. I've gotten Veggie Bin at the new King Street Farmer's Market. Also seems to be of high quality.

If I understand correctly, everything you get from Black Hog will have been grown on their farm in Palatka (excluding Bold Bean coffee and others that are specified in the order form). This includes free-range chicken and eggs and more. I believe Veggie Bin sources from multiple farms around Jacksonville (or further for organic produce), so I suppose they are more of a service than a farm? They seem to partner with a larger variety of businesses (tea in addition to coffee, bread, and hygiene and cleaning products). Now that I'm learning about these extras, I may supplement my Black Hog deliveries with the other extras from Veggie Bin.

Anywho, both great options compared to a large chain grocer. I'm leaning towards Black Hog for produce (if I have to pick one), but both are good.

Also, Veggie Bin has a more active online presence (as you might expect of a service versus farmers), so you can tell what you are getting in the delivery and how it was harvested (organic, etc).

With Black Hog, you can tell them what you don't like so that you won't receive it in the future. I do not believe Veggie Bin does this currently.

We appreciate all of your support and comments. To clarify on PeeJayEss's post, as a small farm we also want to support our farming community, and we do so by foraging produce from other farms to supply a good verity to our members.

Also our website will be online soon, it will provide our members with more ease and flexibility to modify there deliveries, information on our farm and the products we offer, recipes and more. Keep updated on our Facebook Page.

I emailed Black Hog Farm to get an order form, but it never arrived. I am going to try to check both out at the market this Wednesday.

The order forms are on their website, I believe.
