The next Jax Cash Mob has been set.

https://www.facebook.com/jaxcashmob

Please join us in Avondale Satuday May 19th for the next Jax Cash Mob.  Mojo #4 is the meetup spot where at 1pm the cash mob site will be unveiled.  Afterwards, post-mob drinks and socializing will be held at Mojo #4 at 2:30pm.  The Shoppes of Avondale is comprised of over 60 locally-owned and operated small businesses.  This is ground zero of the shop local movement.

What is a cash mob?
A cash mob is a group of people who assemble at a local business and all buy items from that business. The purpose of these mobs is to support both the local businesses and the overall community.  Think of the Cash Mob as a “shop local” flash mob created to spur local economic stimulus!  The ten dollars demonstrates your personal commitment and effort to support a local independent retailer while having fun doing it as a part of a larger group.

How do I participate?
Here are the rules:
1.   Show up at Mojo #4 at 1pm.  Mojo #4 is located at 3572 St Johns Ave.
2.   Spend $10-$20 at a local store (we'll reveal the store at 1pm)
3.   Meet three new people
4.   HAVE FUN!!!

Why cash mob?
When we buy local, from local businesspeople, wealth is both created and retained in the community.  Think of what an impact we can all have on our community by simply choosing to shop local.  We each do a little. We all do a lot.

Two weeks away from the next Jax Cash Mob held Satuday May 19th .  This time it will be in Avondale.

What is a cash mob?
A cash mob is a group of people who assemble at a local business and all buy items from that business. The purpose of these mobs is to support both the local businesses and the overall community. They also serve a secondary purpose in providing social opportunities.

What do I do?
Show up at Mojos #4 in Avondale.  At 1pm we will unveil what store will be the cash mob recipient.  We ask that you spend anywhere from $10-20 at the store.  The event usually lasts about an hour, and then we reconvene back at Mojo's #4 to socialize and have a post mob beverage.  This way, you meet great people and support two businesses at once!

This Saturday is the second Jax Cash Mob.  Come out to Mojo #4 in Avondale at 1pm.  At that time we'll reveal the locally-owned business that will be our 'target'.  We'll march over and spend $10-20 each and after about an hour, re-convene at Mojo's #4 for drinks and socializing.  This way, we'll support TWO locally-owned businesses AND meet some great, like-minded people.

Some Shoppes of Avondale merchants will also be extending special offers to cash mobbers as well, details will be given at 1pm Saturday.

Small business in Jax could use your support.  Join me and invite others.  Like the facebook page and share the event with others or email/call/text your friends to come out.

Worse case scenario: you have a beer, spend $10 on something cool and meet new people... who can turn that down?

A growing body of economic research shows that in an increasingly homogenized world, entrepreneurs and skilled workers are more likely to invest and settle in communities that preserve their one-of-a-kind businesses and distinctive character.  For Jacksonville to have a competitive edge, we must support that which makes Jacksonville a community worth calling home.  Show your support for your local economy this Saturday at the Jax Cash Mob.

Still plenty of time to invite your friends and join us Saturday.

Two more days left.  Join us Saturday for the Jax Cash Mob, a demonstration event to show support for local business.

Local businesses help shape the character of our community.  When you support what makes our downtown and in town neighborhoods unique, you are helping our community thrive and prosper.

Check out this cool event Saturday.  Meet at 1pm at Mojos #4 in Avondale.

Last push... invite your friends.  A REALLY COOL locally-owned business is going to be hit with a CASH MOB tomorrow in Avondale.  Find out where tomorrow at 1pm at Mojos #4 in the Shoppes of Avondale.

If all you do is sit on your couch and complain about how Jax isn't doing this or that, here's your chance to stand up and make it happen!

And mentioned in the RAP blog

QuoteAvondale Cash Mob
Join me this Saturday, May 19th at 1:00pm as Cash Mob makes its way to Avondale. Locally-owned small business owners greatly contribute to what makes our community unique. Cash Mob shows them our support and is a lot of fun in the process.
How it works: Bring $10 to Mojos No.4 at 1:00pm this Saturday where the organizers will announce the local store that we will be "mobbing." After we pleasantly surprise this business, we will then make our way back to Mojos for beverages and more socializing, supporting two businesses at the same time!

Small mention in Folio.  News 4 Jax and First Coast News have also mentioned the event on their weekend updates.

If anyone needs something to do today, join the Cash Mob in Avondale at 1pm.

Thank you to everyone that attended the 2nd Jax Cash Mob.  Numbers are in and we had a little under a $3,000 economic impact, and we almost made a grown man cry.  Not bad for a couple of hours.

Green Man Gourmet was the 'target' and we packed them in as tight as we could in the little store.  Several other Shoppes retailers such as Hooshang Oriental Rug Gallery, Avondale Gift Boutique, Vue Optical Boutique and Avante Salon all offered special discounts for mobbers as well.

Quote"Sales were great. Again, it's like a little Christmas for us. We were told to have a heads up that they would be coming through and it was exceptional. When I first came in, people were already lined up ready to be able to purchase things," said David Hart, one of the store owners.
