I have to agree with everyone! before 2009 I was not even a football fan. I did not even watch NFL football period. I went to my first game in 2010 and I will say it was by far the best experience of my life. Yeah the titans blew us out on MNF, but just the stadium experience was amazing and over whelming. I dont understand the " If they are losing Im not buying tickets" mindset. Win or lose, its a great experience. I actually felt bad that I had been in Jacksonville my entire life and missed out on everyone. Back when we first got the team I was in high school and I was also working. I could have witnessed the epic beatdown we gave miami in person. But I was just in another world. I soley regret it, but Im glad that I have seen the light. Will always keep my season tickets.

Unfortunately most people in Jacksonville are just still set in that small-town, college football mentality. I wonder if Khan will lift the tarps right away?

I dont think he will. But he said he wants them gone in a few years

Our capacity even with the tarps in place is 67,246.  That's no embarrassment for a market this size, or really, any size.  11 stadia have smaller capacity, including Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Indianapolis; and many others seat just a few thousand more.  Almost all the league's stadia are in the 65,000-71,000 range.

With the tarps off the stadium holds 77,000+ and only about five or six NFL stadia hold that many (Dallas, Washington, Giants/Jets, Denver, KC).  The smallest market of any of the 75,000+ stadium cities is Kansas City (which seats about 78,000), and that's a metro area with about 700,000 more people than Jacksonville has.

Though a lot of ignorant sportswriters laugh about the tarps, having a 67,000 seat stadium in a 1.3 million person market is nothing to be ashamed of.  I understand wanting them gone because I'm tired of having to explain them to people who think we have a much smaller stadium or cover many more seats than we do, but it'd be awfully difficult to sell 77,000 seats a game even if the whole world went Jaguar-crazy.

Two seats in section 216. I'm so glad that the overall atmosphere will be about Jaguar football as usual, and not the circus environment that would've been eminent if 'you know who' would've came here.

Actually it is quite impressive. For a market our size to average between 62,000-67,000 over the past 7 years ( I looked at the attendance dating back to 2005.), our attendance is actually awesome. If our stadium only had a capcity of 65,000, nobody would be saying a word about our attendance. People with common sense know our stadium is too big for our market and it is not realistic to sell it out ( although we have back in our hey day). I wonder why they are going to say when Miami does the same thing. The Miami Herald stated the Dolphin's are looking to "reduce capcity" to help their "attendance issue". They are the ones that should be ashamed honestly. Their market is enormous and nobody wants to go the games.

Didn't the Raiders have the same problem in LA with the Coliseum being as big as it was?

Wacca Pilatka

The Raiders had many problems in LA.  First, the Coliseum was enormous as you said - I think its NFL capacity was 92,000.  It was also deteriorating and by the early 90s, it was clear that it was not NFL-caliber despite its size.  Finally, and most importantly, LA fans really didn't show up to the games even though the Raiders were generally a .500 or better team.  They often drew less than 50,000 and didn't sell out except for playoff games and big in-season event games (MNF, rivalry games where both the Raiders and the rival were having winning seasons, etc.).  Even if the stadium had 70,000 seats instead of 92,000 they would've avoided blackouts less than half of the time.

Great offer mike.  Original season ticket holder.  Have had 4 since the beginning.  Have 2 more in a box since they opened that a few years ago.

The sad thing about our stadium is that it was built for 1 game, Florida/Georgia.  The tarps are such a ridiculous thing to ridicule.  Focusing on removing the tarps is a horrible idea.  It's pie in the sky, theme park crazy talk.  It detracts so much energy and attention from things.  They make the stadium be the capacity it needs to be.  When we do a new stadium, this needs to be taken into serious consideration.  Build it in a way that allows additional seats to be added when needed, but diminish seating capacity overall.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

But you only need 55,000 to lift the blackout. And unless the Steelers or Jets or Packers come to town, it seems we never really ever "fill" the stadium to the 67,246 number.

Paid attendance, or ACTUAL attendance. No way 62,000 people were there for some of those games last year.

Agreed. There were two or three games in particular that were rather thin. The bucs game and the texans were two. There are people who buy tickets and stay home. I have season tickets and did not go to the bucs game. It was cold, wet and the team sucked. I felt like it wasnt worth my time to risk getting the flu. Of course after the final score I kicked myself not going. LOL

DD08 - As a season ticket holder in the Club, I love the games and everything the Jags do for the the fans who are season ticket holders. Unless you are a season ticket holder, you ain't got no street cred to me. Thanks for being a supporter!
