Adam W

Hello. I just realized I failed to introduce myself to the forum, despite posting for the past few weeks. Sorry for the breach of etiquette.

I lived in Jacksonville from 1979 to 2007 (with a couple of brief exceptions) before moving to London, where I live with my wife (who is also a Jax native) and our pet parrotlet.

I love Jacksonville and usually visit once a year. I always hated the heat, but now I kind of miss it (and miss the sunshine even more). I also miss Publix.

I think Jacksonville has great potential, but seems to have trouble making things happen. I hate the sprawl and the strip malls and subdivisions.

I have some interest in trains/railways (though I'm not a train spotter) and worked for Network Rail when I first moved to the UK. I also enjoy cycling and make my daily commute on my folding Brompton bicycle (that's a bit of a lie - if it's cold or wet, I take the train or bus).

I can be fairly sarcastic and tend to be a bit of a cynic. But I won't get offended if you disagree with me and I don't mean anything personal if I disagree with you.

Welcome!  So you are posting from London?  Sunny and warm here today... Nice day... not too hot yet... 8)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Yes indeed. It's night time now, but we have been having sun the past few days. Highs in the low 60s. So it's actually really nice. I'm visiting Jax at the beginning of May and hope it will be sunny and plenty warm.

Welcome Adam. It should be nice and hot for you when you visit in May!
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

WmNussbaum

"Fairly sarcastic," seems like "little bit pregnant." Either you is or you ain't. And this comes from someone with a fifth degree black belt in sarcasm.

Adam, welcome!  I see you are a Tottenham supporter?  I lived in London from 2007-09.  Never made it to White Hart Lane, but did see them play at Craven Cottage!

Hi Chris. Yes I am a Spurs supporter. I have a club membership, though I never go (it's hard to get tickets to the bigger matches). I saw them play Fulham at the Cottage late last year!

I live in Stoke Newington, which is just south of Tottenham.

Awesome. Trying to save gas money by shopping at Winn-Dixie, I also miss Publix.

I still haven't made it to White Hart Lane, but Craven Cottage is a great place to watch football. I try to take in at least one game there each year when in London. COYW!

And welcome aboard Adam! If you're in Jax for the Tottenham/Fulham game on May 13, let me know and we can grab a beer and watch the game.

I will be. I can send you a message if I'm going to be available (with family commitments and the like). Last match of the season. Fingers crossed for a third place finish.
