USA vs. Scotland soccer

Does anyone have any confirmation that the USA will play Scotland in Jacksonville at EverBank Field on Saturday May 26th in a friendly?  I heard some noise on Twitter over the weekend, but nothing since.

Ajax

Yeah, I doubt they would be able to do it with TPC since that is in early May (around the 10th) and the Scotland game would have to be scheduled around the FIFA calendar.

I think the 26th through the 30th (or thereabouts) are FIFA friendly dates, so I could see the USA playing two games during that period.  That would fit into the USA-Brazil at FedEx theory and still allow us to hold out hope for the USA game here.

Fingers are crossed...

The Brazil match in DC is set for May 30. The Scotland venue is suppposed to be announced within the next week.

I have a close friend at US Soccer House in Chicago, sent him a text this afternoon......  Jax is short listed.

I heard last night that it's a go.  The date I heard was the 25th though.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

According to this article on Yahoo:

Quote. It's also believed that the United States will host Scotland at the end of May, potentially less than a week before the match versus Brazil. Jacksonville and Boston are two rumored hosts for that particular match.

I heard the 26th, which is a Saturday. Either way, if we get that game it will one heck of a Memorial Day weekend.

This would be really cool. I went to a game with South Korea here when I was a kid. It was pretty crazy.

Well, I believe the Jacksonville Jazz Festival is May 24th through the 27th, so it really will be a great weekend to showcase downtown to some visitors.

When was that?  I don't remember that one.  I bet that would have been a fun game to attend.

I know that we played Germany here - maybe around 1999?  It was at the Jaguars stadium.  I missed it because I was out of town.  It was a double-header - the USA men and women played that day.

A long time ago I saw the US play someone (Moldova?) at Wolfson Park.  They basically shoe-horned a soccer field in there.

Some friends and I went to see the USA - Panama Gold Cup game in Tampa last year.  I think the crowd was around 27,000.  And that was for a meaningful game.  We should be able to top that.

Wow - looks like most of the old-school USA guys were in that game.  We've come a long way...

I'm trying to find information about it. It was probably 1995 or 1996, at the stadium... It's possible I'm misremembering key information.

I have heard that the Scottish team is negotiating a week long hotel stay in Jax.  Do not know if they are doing the same in other cities, but we are at least a possibility.
