JSO keeping information from Local residents

How do you feel about JSO's policy of the last 5 years of keeping info from us?
Need a current example?  Several days ago I watched one of our local news channels requesting info from us on a case in Ortega where 2 brothers were found dead...the deaths were two month's ago....Why NOW?
Another example got Many of us in Riverside Really Mad.  It was the July 4th 2008 5-Points RIOT..that happened in full view of many of us. There were several helicopters circling around the five points area with Cops in SWAT uniforms restoring order.....only problem was for those of us that wanted info the next week. Wouldn't you know it..a news black out and JSO if directly asked as I did on July 5th,a complete denial.
News of Anthony Blakely getting his eyes gouged out was also suppressed,as these things usually gain national attention.

The JSO "ridealonggroupie"Wanna-be's will flame away, but do they actually think this is a national law enforcement tactic? or just  "Local Yocal"behavior.
Please work with us JSO....did you ever think we might hand over the suspect to you quickly? or do you think we are telling them to leave town before you can arrest them. (JSO chooses the latter)
Here lies your perception problem.

Ernest Street.....

I knew about Scenario #3 .. Knew nothing about the other two until you mentioned them.

Do you have any theory ,as to reason(s)  this information was suppressed?

No Theory here..just watching and taking it all in with a great memory for the past 15 years I've lived in Riverside.
I also talk to Cops whenever I get the chance...you would be surprised at what they don't admit to seeing.
I also have lived for work purposes in at least 5 states and had to live by their laws.
I have always encountered Cops that wanted info RIGHT NOW and not next couple months.
This "Hush Hush" crap has been going on for years. Specifically for violent crimes.
Many of us have had to Hound JSO for any info (Stephan Dare) and have gotten their "No-Info" response.
If they continue to accuse the Ghetto's  for keeping quiet, they might see that they are doing the same thing.
Do as I say..not as I do.

BTW, I posted this for those that are sick of just "Going with the Flow". not for conspiracy theorists or to generate drama for the site.
Just for those that are sick of the shit.
I AM old enough to remember what tactics and behavior "The Mafia"  did.  Our "Fines" and other "Trick Fees and charges" are like Extortion,Racketeering, or fraud back in the day...how else do you explain towing and impoundment.?

Of particular interest was JSO removing the police scanners from news rooms under the guise of "cost cutting". Who watches the watchmen then?

Are you getting the "no comment" treatment from patrolmen, the substations or the PMB (the big police station downtown)?

Ernest Street

Usually it's the Patrolmen. they frequently "Don't know" what happened on their beat before their shift. That is IF you can make contact with them outside of their Patrol car.
Aren't they briefed or handed a piece of paper?
How effective is it to ask residents info after a time period passes..minds get fuzzy, descriptions change.
I'm sorry, but it appears that the citizens are JSO's "Last Resort" lately.
I will look for a crimestopper #....but I shouldn't have to dig. The number should be publically posted all over town.

Ralph W

Maybe the Crimestopper number should be painted on every patrol car right next to the 911.

If you call 911 with information that solves a crime you will not be eligible for any reward offered by Crimestopper since you did not call them first.

The number for First Coast Crimestoppers is 1-866-845-TIPS (8477) or you can go online to www.fccrimestoppers.com.

Is your problem that you have information you want to give to police or you want to get info from police?

Akira....this is a wider problem than that.  Sometimes a resident or business owner shoots and maybe kills a suspect.
In Arizona or Texas, this is simply self defense. In Jacksonville you might get incarcerated until they "Figure it out"
If they decide you are a "Flight Risk"(completely arbitrary and at their discretion) you will remain incarcerated.
IF you go to trial you are at the mercy of your chosen jury...and don't expect them to take interest in your case and keep on coming back all week for their Jury Duty pay. Deliberations are commonly finished on the same day...before 5pm..go figure.
The next thing is the officers not making decisions by themselves. They will tell you that once they radio in...it's too late and you will go downtown anyway and go through "The System" (Each Downtown visit =$$$)
I am a home owner and 1 year ago traveled by bike 2 blocks down MY own street to a friends house ON THE SIDEWALK!
My crime was a dead battery on my bike light.I was converged upon by no less than 2 patrol cars with spotlights glaring that were lurking at the end of MY street with their lights turned off. The first thing one officer did was to turn me so my arm was going behind my back.
When I began to slowly turn around to undo myself and declare"What are you doing?I'm part of the neighborhood watch!"
He began telling me this was resisting and was a "ticket downtown".
It took several minutes to convince them I did nothing to deserve an arrest accusation and threat.
I was patted down and my cell phone was opened and my personal photos were looked at. Meanwhile..I couldn't say anything on the "Guise" that I would again be accused of "Resisting"  Resisting what???  Are you arresting me or not? Meanwhile my friend was asking them why they were doing this and was personally identifying me.
They finally lost interest after not finding any drugs or "Prior" warrents on me.  I felt "Harvested" to say the least"
They wrote me a $45 dollar ticket and left.
Was I not "Baited" into fighting or fleeing them?
This was one example from one year....I have lived in Riverside for 13 years and might document ALL I have seen.
Most Folks just bury their head in their sandy yards and say.."I don't do anything wrong..therefore I'm immune".
If you stay in your cars you are about 50% safe. If you walk or Ride a bike lately, you are a target in Riverside.

Florida Statutes 119. Use it, if they stonewall, sue.

All of the other municipalities in the state put booking photos and incident reports online.  JSO does not.  If you want either you have to go the a sub-station with a case number and they will (reluctantly) make copies for you at 10 cents per page.  They have it online.  Why don't they open it up for all of us to see?  It is by law public information.

At least with the new Cyberwatch mapping system online you can get the case number easily.

Cyberwatch is a neat system.  You can specify an area of town in a couple of ways and the system will email you reports of crimes in that area when the report is filed.
