Terrific Tebow...really?

Few phrases in sports commentary (from fans or journalists) are more irritating than "all he does is win" with respect to a mediocre-at-best QB who doesn't produce much and is fully reliant on his defense.

That is being applied to Tebow with reckless abandon right now.  And just watch, it'll come into vogue for Vince Young again even after he threw 3 INTs last night.

Tim Tebow as starter this season 4-1

Blain Gabbart as Starter this season 2-8

What I don't understand is why so many people hate  Tebow. He has a rare passion for the game that rubs off on his team. Did you see how they celebrated with the kid after his game winning touchdown run? Sure his passing is lacking, but I have seen him make some pretty good throws. By the way, Gabbart is still behind Tebow in passing percentage.

A fascinating conclusion.  Gabbert somehow has lost more games than the Jaguars have.

^Tebow would make a great fullback or pep rally mascot, imo.  I'll pass on him at the QB position.  He obviously has a will to win that rubs off on his teammates but more credit should be given to their defense over the last few weeks, imo.  They've been playing well above expected, making it possible for Tebow's magic to rub off late.

Yes, considering the Broncos are scoring fewer points per game with Tebow than they did with Orton.

It seems you put more thought into the way Tebow 'rubs off' than his actual play.  :o

In a 1 score game Tebow obviously will give you a chance to win... 2+ scores and defenses can pin their ears back and make him look silly.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Byron Leftwich with the Jags 24-20

Drew Brees with the Chargers 37-43

So, obviously.. Byron Leftwich is the superior quarterback.

There's a disturbing number of people in Jacksonville who have decided that bashing the Jaguars during a rough patch, or laughing about their struggles or the prospect of their moving somewhere else, and joining the cool crowd in the national press makes them feel just great inside.

Well, when you have a decade long rough patch, its hard to stay positive, Wacca. 2007 was  our only shot at anything and it was an abbirition.

Excuse me, I guess Gabbart is 2-6. That is much better.

Dapperdan

Jump off the Dames Point? Really. That is what I need to do since I like Tebow better than Gabbart?  Classy response.

How ever did the Lions or Bucs survive for so long without winning? We will be ok. Yes, i would like us to win more games. Honestly, I am tired of hearing about Tebow. The jags blew that chance, so we have to move on and hope that Gabbert develops. I go to the games and fly my Jag flag win or lose!

^Word up. I got my radio tuned to Brian Sexton every Sunday regardless of what happens. If I had the money I'd be at every game I could.

There's a difference between criticizing aspects of a team's performance, and a persistent pattern of negativity. The former shows you care. The latter just makes you a whiner and a generally unpleasant person to be around.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I agree. But I dont see Tebow as a blown opportunity. It would have stuck out like a sore thumb on our team. And thus far, the only thing that he can do is run LOL

So I guess all this board wants is all people with the same opinion. I didn't realize critcism of the Jaguars was frowned upon.
