You guys remember a long while back there was a discussion about the lights on top of the BofA Tower.  Well, I met the head maintenance guy at the BofA Tower, who works for the Parmenter Group. I asked him about the lights.  He told me that the lights had basically run their life and all the parts need to be replaced, because of rust, corrision, etc. He told me that they are actually considering installing LED lights that change colors.  I told him the BofA Tower is Jacksonville's tallest and it should be lit like every other BofA Tower in any US city. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

LED lights would be the best choice for them as they should last about 100,000 hours at least.

^ and they use 1/10 of the power.  The problem is that they are still pretty pricey.

I would love to see the tower re-lit.  Its a shame its beem dark for so long.

I'd feel better about a trio of big searchlights that played back and forth all night long... The Eternal search for the German Heinkel Bombers.

Okay, maybe the sun IS a big severe here in Texas, but after making the joke, I started thinking about a WWII monument and by golly maybe there is something here?  Let's see, sidewalk wall, statues, and lights above...Go BOA!

For building lighting ideas, just look at Hong Kong's skyline...

I wonder what the JEA bill on that would be?

Thanks for the update. LED is the way to go, lots of other cities are switching over which helps my moral compass stop spinning cause I do loves me some purty lights as much as I hate the energy wastes that xmas tree skylines create.

Wow; wasn't even aware that they were out; so they've rusted out and deterioriated from weather, etc.  Well, we need to get them back on and soon; signature tower and Jax's tallest needs to be sittin pretty in the skyline for all to see!

This also sounds like the LED lights the city had on the Main St bridge. It sure would be nice to see those repaired. They somehow got moisture in them.

I think that they shoould put a (100 foot) Spire on top of it with one light.

Is there enough room at the top of that point to put a spire, antennae, etc.?  I don't think so; they possibly might need to cut a lower portion of the pyramid off in order to do that I think; or take the pyramid off, add a flatter top with more height, and then add the spire(s).
