Big Cat Country is reporting BG to start againts the Panthers.  Cam vs Blaine,, should be interesting. Good move IMO,, Jags are going no where with that offense. Go Jags!!!!. This may spark more fan interest with the future QB on display,

I just read that as well! Gosh I hope so. And we need to play that WR just drafted like yesterday. I sick of offense being so boring. MJD is the only exciting thing on it.

QuoteIt looks like we’ll get to watch a battle of top ten rookie quarterbacks Sunday in Carolina.

Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reports that the Jaguars will start Blaine Gabbert at quarterback Sunday against Cam Newton and the Panthers.  Luke McCown will not get a chance to rinse off the stench from his four interception performance against the Jets.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio refused to name a starter Monday or Tuesday, which was a good sign for the rookie.  The No. 10 overall pick impressed the Jaguars in training camp, but his play did not carry over to the preseason where he looked a step slow mentally and often inaccurate.

We can’t imagine Del Rio wanted to go to Gabbert this quickly, but McCown’s play must have made the team reconsider.

There’s no going back now; Del Rio is all in with Gabbert.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

It should be a good game. I wonder how well the TV ratings will be here in Jax.

Tacachale

It should definitely be interesting to see. The upshot is that while Gabbert may play as poorly as McCown or Garrard, he's got a lot of years ahead of him to improve, whereas they don't.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

^^^All of the Jags road games are on TV; Hopefully all of the home games this year will be on as well.

Will it even be on TV?

I will be in Charlotte to watch this one.

Arggh!! I  cant stand you! I was trying to find an away game I could make it to this year. I dont think any of them are close enough. They say Panthers fans are very consertive and quiet at the games. Let me know if thats true.

I wanted to go as well, since I have a cousin in Charlotte. I think the ratings will be high here in Jax BG is supposedly the future. We need our O-line and defense to play well for sure.

Was just watching the news. They were saying how he came to practice giving direction. He shows alot of leadership. They better not put handcuffs on him. If Im not mistaken, Hill and Lewis will be back this week. I also checked out the dude Chastin West and.... He's REALLY good. Im not sure how GB kept him on the practice squad for so long. If he has all his targets in place, this could work out well. Im excited beyond belief! I wasnt excited at all when we drafted Leftwich. I was like, " WTF are you serious?" LOL

Green Bay WANTED to keep him.  He should do well here.  The ONLY reason he was on the practice squad is they already have 5 quality starters on the active roster.  (Jennings, Driver, Nelson, Jones, and Cobb) Green Bay loses a couple players each year from the practice squad where they try to "hide" a player who cannot make the roster.

I'm pretty confident that the handcuffs will be applied.  Lots of draw screens, bubble screens, 3 step drops and most importantly - handoffs.

The downside to this is even though the Panthers ARE a running team, with our weak secondary, they're going to cut Cam loose.  So once we find ourselves down a couple of TDs, then they go pass happy - which is ineffective, because the defense goes blitz happy when they know you have to pass.

IMO, let's pull a trick from that the Colts used against us every year - put Hill on the outside with a double move and bomb the shit out of it on the first play a la Peyton / Harrison.  Set the tone with that play.  (BTW, they should be working extensively on that play this week - tell the defense what you're running and then run it, over and over and over, until the O gets it's timing down.)

This is my only problem with our offense.  Everyone knows we can run when we want to - literally, there's no stopping us.  Why don't we pass more on our running downs and try to catch the other teams off guard?
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I think that two snappy passes of 5 yards each should march us smartly down field, one first down after another. There is an advantage there when the quarterback launches the ball almost instantly from the snap. As long as he is accurate. They need an old tire hanging from a rope on the practice field to get it right. Then they can practice with a receiver - carrying the tire.
