Apartments locked down to investigate odd items

A Ponte Vedra Beach apartment complex was locked down early Saturday after a resident made a disturbing discovery.

A man found an odd, wired device about 4 a.m. on a table in his home in Belleza Condominiums, said Sgt. Chuck Mulligan, spokesman for the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

The man told police his roommate had been acting strange earlier that night - cooking a foul-smelling substance on the stove and talking about "blowing something up."

Police analyzed the device and called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for assistance.

ATF helped determine the device wasn't explosive, and the strange substance on the stove was a mix of vinegar, Coca-Cola and other benign substances.

How do you connect witchcraft to a bomb hoax? 
It sounds like the guy's roommate was trying to scare him and it got carried away. I'm sure the ATF was amused.
