Has anyone else seen the " No Panhandling" signs DT? I walked to the fountain on my break and noticed one there stating " Panhandling is prohibited in Downtown Jacksonville". Are these signs any where? or just at parks?

I haven't seen them, but it's about time.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

fsujax

i have seen them along the riverwalk near the Landing and near Hemming Park

I've seen them here and there for a while now. It doesn't do a lick of difference.

Was gonna post the same thing. Plenty of cities have these ordinances & signs. It doesn't do anything.

What does make it better however is an enforcement by cops who actually walk the streets & a higher presence of businesses/pedestrian foot traffic. Basically, vibrancy.

It still doesn't completely stop it, but it sure makes it a lot better.

i imagine most homeless poeple don't really care if something they're doïng is a misdemeanor.  when you sleep on the streets, what's so bad about a night in jail?

If anything, the panhandlers are getting bolder and more creative.  Sunday one hit me up as I was leaving the Florida Theatre.  When I said I didn't have any cash, he suggested I come with him to a restaurant and use a credit card to treat him to dinner!

Signs, signs, everywhere are signs; fucking up the scenery, breakin' my mind.  Do this don't do that, can't you read the signs.

Probably the same type of folks that hang out around 9A off-ramps at Beach and UNF. They don't look homeless. They just look like lazy ass rednecks in need of beer money.

Yeah, right in front of The Carling.  Maybe they don't do much, but at least it looks like the city cares
