I keep getting emails from people wanting directions. Apparently there is confusion.

We are in a clearing, about a block behind the downtown Winn Dixie.  You'll see people and cars parked there.  We're right behind the fire station, corner of Beaver and Washington Streets.

You can point people to this thread. I put a link up to google maps that shows the end point. You can also change the beginning to whatever address to get door to door directions. It is on the first page of this thread.

Here is the link again.

The Sat. Hogans Creek cleanup was a huge success. Special shout out thanks to our new JEDC organizers. It was a pleasure to meet some new and caring people, Kathy, Joe, Barry, Nan, Duncan, and a bunch more of die hards who will always want to get an up close and personal experience of this beautiful Downtown Urban Waterway Destination.

We pulled out two shopping carts and one was a Winn Dixie shopping cart good enough to return to Winn Dixie. Mayor Brown I was thinking about you the whole time and look forward to one day showing you and your new growing Administration the benefits that can be immediately provided by making this Urban waterway a Destination NOW. Its GO TIME.

Congratulations to Lucasjj. He was the winner of the special drawing. It was great to see him again. He always comes prepared and with so many tools that really help in cleaning. His positive attitude is catching.  Also he was involved with the assist on the shopping carts in addition to the bags of garbage that was removed by a grass roots effort of people who just want to make our community better.

Thank you again Vivian Harrell for the blue bags and we did utilize both cleanup pickup locations. Everyone Made It Happen.

We had a good cleanup Saturday. It wasn't a large group, but Field did well in getting people out there and we got a good bit cleaned up.  It really is a nice area of the creek when we are done. We also had some new faces this time. So don't be shy about coming out in the future when we have these.

A big thank you to those that came out.  We rounded up about 31 trash bags and one shopping cart full of garbage in just under two hours.  It is amazing what a small number of people can do in so little time.  It's very easy to make a difference in your community.

Special thanks to the 12 volunteers who showed up, which included members of Keep Jacksonville Beautiful, Transform Jax and the Girls Gone Green.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The next cleanup will be part of the 26th annual nationwide International Coastal Cleanup on September 17.  We will be holding the event at the Jacksonville Historical Society.  Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is providing us with trash bags and a dumpster.  The Historical Society is graciously granting us access with plenty of parking.  Volunteers will also be receiving free tshirts and a meal afterwards at RAM.

Those of you who were with us for the St Johns River Celebration cleanup last March at this very site will remember that we filled up nearly an entire dumpster full of trash.  10 volunteers managed to gather more debris along Hogans Creek than the 50+ volunteers along the Northbank Riverwalk that same day.

To give you an idea of the signifigance of this event... I am missing tailgating at the Florida State-Oklahoma game to attend this cleanup.  Unless you are on your deathbed, or perhaps participating in the birth of your first child... you don't have an excuse to miss this event and take an hour or two of your time to make it happen.

That's not how I tailgate my friend... especially for a game like this.

The supplies have been picked up. Sept.17 at Hogans Creek. 9-11 then we take it to RAM for a t-shirt pick up.

Field captures the activity completely.

Thanks in advance to everyone that is Making it Happen.

Field, your the author of the thread could you just add Sept.17 to the title. Please.

For all who participate in addition to the t-shirt at RAM we will also have a drawing again for all participants before we take it to Ram.

Low tide is around 7 so there is a really great opportunity to get that shopping cart that the Capt. Field, and PeejayEss spotted just about 20' from the sandy beach kayak launch location. Lucasjj so glad to hear that your going to be able to make it.

Yes I'll bring some kayaks.

As for the drawing everyone can write their name on some Jacksonville city council speaker cards and will have the drawing out of a shopping cart.
Additional prizes include
1. Gift certificate to Roberts Eatery
2. Gift certificate to Carmines
3 Springfield t-shirt

Most importantly- everyone have fun. Your making a difference. And remember what Vivian Harrell says about Hogans Creek. "Its not a fluff site".

NM can you bring your PFD and a paddle? I'll be bringing 5 yaks. If anyone has their own bring them. Doug, will you and Jacob be able to make it?

Shout out to anyone from Springfield and the Historical societies. We will all continue to Make It Happen.
