Attention: Anyone who attends this cleanup will get free admission to Final Friday Pub Crawl on August 26th. Help cleanup Hogan's Creek for an hour or two, have some fun doing it, and get two free drink tickets, free admission to some of the best bars and clubs in town, and transportation to those bars via trolley. This might just be the best deal in town.

More information on the Pub Crawl will be posted on this thread: http://www.metrojacksonville.com/forum/index.php/topic,12900.0.html

I'll do a weekly cleanup if others will join.

If any Springfield groups are interested, please let me know.  I lost Bill's (head of block captains) contact info.

will there be a September cleanup?

There can be a cleanup whenever you want. Just make a post about wanting to do a cleanup and you're bound to get a response from some people. Noone, field, Capt will all usually respond and, most of the time, make it. We've done them with 4 people and we've done them with 30 (hell, Noone goes solo pretty often too). We've even done them with Clean It Up, Green It Up, Riverkeeper, Surfrider, and the Springfield groups.

Can't wait. I'll be there with my boots on. City is on board with after clean up pick up. Thank you Vivian.

PeeJayEss, You are the man! With that kinda  offer and if the media picks up on it you guys could have 1000's showing up.

Looking forward to seeing Noone's welding project.  Is it near the launch site?

Noone

I'm sticking with a street car trolley pole. A different launch site. Sat will be a low tide.

The group according to Field will be meeting at Beaver and Washington. That's a good spot. I'll be bringing the wheelbarrow, 3 prong rake, shovel, Everyone is making a difference and its becoming more noticable.

Bring your own tools if you have them.

Some really exciting developments... I would highly encourage you to show up Saturday.

Captain Zissou

I will be there rain or shine.  I may just park at the Historic Society for the Jag game and sleep in my car (joking, but it's not a bad idea).

I'm in the process of recruiting volunteers as well.  In our last paddle at low tide we discovered a large number of sizable submerged objects.  With some good rope, a few shovels, and a 4x4 we should be able to get them out.

Lucasjj

I will strap on the hip waders and be out there. I will also be bringing a couple shovels and a rake to contribute.

I hope to see a lot of people out there. It will be a double effort cleaning for most. While cleaning up the creek you can also sweat out all of the previous night toxins.

Bring it! We'd have Hogan's cleaned in a day! The Pub Crawl would be out of hand, however.

That WOULD make things a lot easier. Got a tent?

Amen.

I've got a cleanup in Jax Beach and one in St. Auggy on Saturday, but I'll probably be doing Hogan's because that's the one I want to do and it needs cleaning oh so much more. Plus, pull trash out of Hogan's, and that much less ends up on the beach. Also, will need to actually follow-through on the free pub-crawl promise with a sign-up list or something. Let say seeya there!

I keep getting emails from people wanting directions. Apparently there is confusion.

We are in a clearing, about a block behind the downtown Winn Dixie.  You'll see people and cars parked there.  We're right behind the fire station, corner of Beaver and Washington Streets.

Noone

In less than 24 hours. A grass roots JEDC group of organizers will be cleaning one of the dirtiest urban Waterways in our city and for your active participation you will be rewarded with a Pub Crawl entry. I'm in.

I'll also throw in a drawing for a prize that will be at the cleanup and you have to be present to win.

Regardless, whoever shows up you gets pats on the back because you are truly Making it Happen.
