Generation X.  Both of my parents are Baby Boomers.

Isn't this a topic for the break room?

Most sources I've read place the beginning of Generation X at 1965.

Baby Boomers are 1946 - 1964.  See the US Census.  http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/facts_for_features_special_editions/006105.html

But to answer your question... I'm a bicentennial baby.  Generation X, by way of the spirit of '76.

I think you're wrong.  But what does it really matter?  These are quite arbitrary and un-useful categories.  What do people born in 1961 really have in common with people born in 1981?  Nothing, other than perhaps a familial relationship as those born in 1961 could certainly be the parents of those born in 1981.

You just don't get it guys... NOBODY who really caught my generation (Baby Boomers) can remember it anyway.

Stephen, you're over 35.  Did it make your blood boil?

It didn't make mine boil.  But I'm under 35.  Whew!!!  (And I have much more in common with the "next generation" than I do with my own... which has been both a blessing and a curse!)

Jimmy

Boomers are retiring all around me.  It's about to be me and the kids.  This is great news in my world.  We get a lot done with our technogadgets and need for approval.  Mutual appreciation is awesome.

The law business - LOL!  Yes, I'm a lawyer.  But I'm a public policy/interest lawyer... there's a generation of "founders" out there who are about to slip out to greener/golden pastures.  GenXers never got the movement aspect of this work, so there's fewer of us than you would imagine.  We are bringing in a bumper crop of wide-eyed Obama-esque movement types who are going to do what their grandparents couldn't -- end poverty as we know it -- or so they sincerely believe.  They just might be on to something.

Got this lawyer joke today and can only assume this was a YOUNG lawyer  ;)....

If you ever have to testify in court, you might wish you
were as sharp as this policeman. A defense attorney was trying to undermine his credibility during a felony trial:

Q:
"Officer -- did you see my client fleeing the scene?"

A: "No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender, running
several blocks away."

Q: "Officer -- who provided this description?"

A: "The officer who responded to the scene."

Q: "A fellow officer provided the description of this
so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?"

A: "Yes, sir. With my life."

Q: "With your life? Let me ask you this then officer.
Do you have a room where you change your clothes
in preparation for your daily duties?"

A: "Yes sir, we do!"

Q: "And do you have a locker in the room?"

A: "Yes sir, I do."

Q: "And do you have a lock on your locker?"

A: "Yes sir."

Q: "Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow
officers with your life, yet you find it necessary to
lock your locker in a room you share with these
same officers?"

A: "You see, sir -- we share the building with the
court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been
known to walk through that room."

The courtroom exploded with laughter,
and a prompt recess was called.
