Ah, the ever delightful Sebastian Horsley, recently banned from entering the United States on account of his rather irreverent book, The Dandy in the Underworld.

We are having a reading of this book at Boomtown, June 13th, along with a showing of Irish, English and Italian Dandy Fashion from the late 1800s.

rumormongering.

vivid history of drug and prostitution convictions (he was on the giving end reportedly) were the real reasons he was barred at Newark Intl Airport from entering the country.

from the New York Times...

Quote
Sebastian Horsley, a British author who has written an eyebrow-raising memoir detailing a life of rampant drug use and voluminous encounters with prostitutes, was turned back at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday as he tried to enter the United States for a book party and New York news media tour.  Mr. Horsley said he was detained by United States customs authorities for eight hours and questioned about his former drug addiction, use of prostitutes and activity as a male escort.

lol!!!  i can't believe they questioned him at the Newark airport for EIGHT HOURS before kicking him out!!!  that's crazy.  then again, i guess that is what a prolific prosititution and drug criminal record will get you.

I'm not a huge horsley fan trust me,  but, you know what, I do appreciate his work much more then other boring contemporary artists.  He reminds me of a friend I had growing up.  My friend wanted a homosexual relationship with David Bowie.  At the time I never knew why.  But,  I didn't care either way...to each his own.  Why you got a problem with that Driven1?  Or are you  homophobic?

LOL. Last time I checked, gay meant cheery: bright and pleasant; however, you seem to have a problem with that so you must be depressed, ignorante and boring.  Funny, exactly what Sabastion  hates.....no wander you hate him.  ;D

and WHERE will BoomTown re-open?  and what will it be?

Lunican

Why are you calling 9th and Main Boomtown? And why are you still holding events there?

Driven1

i will admit that he has a nice literary style, but reading it, you get the impression that most of it is pulled from the fabric of an already-told fantastic, exaggerative story.  still, i'd love the opportunity to read (or have read to me) more of this outlandishness.

That excerpt was certainly uplifting.   :'(
