Save Cross Country in Duval

Not sure if I should put this in Education, Sports, or Events. So I am going to do at least 2 (sue me. I will make each post slightly different).

I'm sure there are things like this going on for the other sports that need saving as well, but here is the one for cross country. Here is the link to donate through 1st Place Sports: http://www.active.com/donate/SaveCCinDuval. They need $70,000 (seriously, for the sport across the county. its insane that this was even a real cut when it is absolute small beans in the budget, but the politics of it are a different post) and are currently up to a little over ~27k. You can donate directly through that link (they were donating $5 for each pair of shoes sold in June, not sure if that is extending through July).

There was a telethon Wednesday on 1010XL Sports Radio and TV-12. They were hoping to raise $500k during that. They need to raise a total of $730k to save all the sports, and there are other groups raising individually for sports, so they might be entering the home stretch at this point. Great news, but unfortunate that this is necessary at all.
