QuoteA day after his chief-of-staff was nudged toward another state post, Gov. Rick Scott’s top adviser Tuesday also turned in her resignation.

Mary Anne Carter, whose tie to Scott dates to heading his Citizens For Patients Rights, which fought President Obama’s health care overhaul in 2009, said she will leave the administration June 30.

“I appreciate you asking me to serve a while longer in your administration,” Carter wrote in her resignation letter. “I have had a wonderful time and while tempting, I believe it is in my best interest to stay with my original timeline of leaving at the end of this month. I have family obligations that demand my attention and I want to return to my business practice as another election cycle begins.”

family obligations = forced to resign, quit in disgust or unceremonially fired....right?

This is generally the case in politics. "Family obligations" is used by people who want to get the hell out before something bad happens. You hear "I'm leaving to go spend more time with my family" generally right before the headline "SO AND SO INDICTED ON FRAUD CHARGES". So take it as you may.

This man has caused mass chaos in the state of florida. I knew from day one that he was not to be trusted. But when us floridians voted him in I laughed and said, " here we go!" I already knew he was going to tear this state apart. This should be a huge lesson to Floridian voters.

A lesson to all Floridians.  If you haven't registered to vote, please do so.

For the record, this was one who did not vote for him. Not a snowball's chance in hell that I would vote for him next election.

Thanks Governor:

$210.5-Million Tax Cut: Governor Scott Signs Property Tax Relief Bill6/22/2011 West Palm Beach, Fla. â€" Keeping his promise to reduce property taxes, Governor Rick Scott today signed legislation that will save homeowners and businesses throughout Florida $210.5 million on property taxes due in 2012. Senate Bill 2142 caps the taxes Florida’s five water management districts can assess on residential and commercial properties.

Across four of the five water management districts, property owners will save an average of 30 percent on their 2011-12 property taxes. Residents will see varying levels of savings, depending on where their property is located. Property owners in the Southwest Florida Water Management District will see the greatest savings. Savings for all five districts are as follows:

• Southwest Florida Water Management District â€" 36% reduction

• South Florida Water Management District â€" 30% reduction

• St. Johns Water Management District 26% reduction

• Suwannee River Water Management District â€" 8% reduction

• Northwest Florida Water Management District â€" No increase

In addition, citizens will have more access to information about each water management district’s budget. Each district is required to provide a monthly financial statement to its governing board and make the information available to the public on the district’s website.

“This property tax cut allows families and businesses to use more of their hard-earned money in the way they see best, rather than having to send it to a government agency,” Governor Scott said. “In addition, with access to more information about their water management district’s budget, property owners will be able to hold them accountable for how every tax dollar is spent.”

Florida’s Unemployment Rate Drops for the Fifth Month in a Row 6/17/2011 Tallahassee;

“Florida is leading the nation in job creation and our unemployment rate has dropped for the 5th straight month, a huge win for Floridians. It is unfortunate the federal government can’t say the same thing for the rest of the country.

“Our efforts to make Florida the most business friendly state are clearly paying off and we are bucking the national trend.

“Since I took office, we’ve created 76,800 jobs for parents, recent graduates, workforce veterans and all Floridians who have been struggling to get back on their feet.

“Texas is still leading the country in job growth this year, but Florida is trailing right behind at number two. We are gunning to be the number one state for job growth and I will not rest until Florida surpasses Texas for the top spot.”

Honestly you are trying to credit the Governor with our Job Growth?

Texas and Florida have managed to shift better paying jobs to a few more minimum wage jobs so I guess that is something. Something we will regret for decades.  We are already a low tax state there is no bang for the buck in cutting taxes here.  A sustainable state economy is going to have to include the government doing it's share of QOL investment (public education, police and fire anyone).  I just wish I had owned a bit of Solantic stock when Scott took office.

If you support Republicans or just basic conservatism you would do well to distance yourself from this clown.  As a citizen of Florida I want to thank the thousands of thoughtful Republicans who crossed the isle to vote against this train wreck and chastise the majority of Democrats who could not bother to show up at the polls to protect our state.

How many times did Scott promise not to cut education funding?  Over and over again he vowed not to.

Well I guess if we elect someone who 65 times testified that if he told the truth to the court he would go to jail then we get what we get.

btw Jaxnative property taxes fund our schools. So if you want the state population to be poorly educated cutting property taxes is a good way to go about it.

Garden guy

Our schools are supported by many devices and they've all been sliced into over the years....politicians screaming.."i'm going to lower taxes"....well that means no money for schools and then we are stuck with a bunch of stupid uneducated kids which can't get jobs or fill these wonderful high paying techincal jobs our wonderful governor says is coming....i say up or taxes a bit anyday....it's only the uber weathy that is hurt by a little higher property tax..that's not most of us so why not? The last time the taxes were lowered i saved a little but not enough to deal with uneducated children.

+1 GG
The idea of extremely low taxes has become  an idol worship type mantra.  It's not really useful to society but for many just winning on the tax issue has become an end unto itself.

It's a class war period. WE against THEM....and in part a political war...republicans are against anything public and democrats want our society to work for everyone not just the wealthy.

manasia

I really wish this guy would resign and make life more easier, but who do you reelect in his place? Jennifer Carrol is not a good look either.

"democrats want our society to work for everyone not just the wealthy."
Yea, I'll sit back and wait for society to get it right for me.

"We are stuck. "
Same way I feel about the clown(s) in the White House.
