Unless I'm nuts, that worthless slogan is now completely absent from the updated city website.

BUMPER STICKER    "Florida's First Coast-Where Miami Begins!"

wanted to do a billboard or two but the shades of "FLAP" effort will require backers$$ to deal with the lawsuits.

On current events,Jacksonville City Governement should excercise ultra caution, selection in promoting outlying counties. It's time to let the tide turn.

I don't think it's going away at all...I think it's just an example of the city poorly branding itself by not including the logo and slogan.

"Where Florida Begins" is still on the visitor website... http://www.visitjacksonville.com/

"Where Florida begins, but you're not quite sure because it looks a helluva lot like South Georgia and you're not sure why you have yet to see a pink flamingo, trained seal or Art Deco hotel.  It sure does not look like Ratso Rizzo's dream, but you continue south down I-95 until you find a place that does not serve sweet tea!"

Too long?

I still think we should bring back "The Bold New City of the South" or replace the current one for "This might still be Georgia"

'Bout to say - all of the JSO cruisers (and badges, if I'm not mistaken) still have the old "Bold" logo/slogan.

IMO, "Where Florida Begins" was, at best, one of the worst slogans ever created and, at worst, it sounded more like a non-attempt.  Good riddance.

I guess that 'Flyover Country' was taken.  This would ring true for those Yankees flying direct to Miami...

I believe the slogan was born of "Regional" Northeast Florida promotion band wagon.

'Florida's First Coast-Where Florida Begins!'

the same Euphoria that generated 'Jacksonville "Millionth Mania"',sponsored by Barnett Bank and the City of Jacksonville Special Events office.Fireworks Downtown!!
A ruse, for "Jacksonville" to quote the coveted Million population mark surrounding First Coast County population numbers were a part of the diabolical equation........a point not missed by this writer and profiled in Miami Herald Carl Hiassen editorial,a piece later profiled in Carl's book "Kick Ass",hard copy edition of Carl's most hard hitting editorials.

Recent First Coast county meddling in the Mayor's race no doubt a  part of the puzzle.
