Emily Moody/ Cameron announced last night Underbelly will close its doors at the end of the month.
The good news is they plan to open a bigger venue in late August early September in a totally geared
live music format.
The rumor has that they will relocate in the Kings street corridor at the new Cork Art building.

oh whew. so this is more of a gain than a loss...

King Street is the place to be.  I didn't see it coming, but I'm glad to see it happening.

Where exactly is the Cork Art Building?

25,000 sq ft warehouse dedicated for art studios. The 1st section of art studios are filled. Dolf James, Chrystal Floyd, George Cornwell/Noli Novak, Donald Duisenberrie/ Jen Jones (former propitiators of R Roberts) have occupied. Jim Draper appears to be moving in to the 2400sq ft gallery (all have 20ft ceilings... w/ air.)
The facebook site will be up anytime.
Jacksonville just jumped up several steps on the "best places for artists" list. Both musical and visual.
Cork stands for Corner of Roselle and King.
Its on.

Is this the white warehouse on the NW corner of that intersection?  Is it open to the public?  Sounds like a good subject for a future MJ photo article.

Cool.  That's a great use of that space.

We finally found a significant landlord/ developer who realized that artists is the best use of such real estate. And he put his but on the line to make it happen. There are no words to express gratitude to Dolf James for doing this.
Oh, to no ones suprise, there is NO city help, this was done by individuals taking action on their own.

Congratulations! No city help (Bailout).

To everyone involved with this project. August Sept. opening?
I'd like to participate in two ways.

In June or July

1. I'll volunteer to paint. landscape, Add walls. Knock down walls. Roofing. Whatever help you need to open in August.

2. The second way I'd like to participate is to donate a keg of Intuition Ale Works. The People's Ale for that day that you designate and under your supervision in June or July for those people who are making it happen.

PeeJayess I don't know why but somehow I see your butt showing up for this one. LOL. I'm kidding, your a good man.

If I'm over stepping my bounds with number two I understand. I'm still serious with number one.

Things can be done quicker if you do not wait for the city to catch up with the local residents!

Best wishes to Emily Moody and the "new" Underbelly.  Can't wait to see the results.
This is the kind of spark that ignites imagination....and economic development.
Thanks to all, especially Dolf.

Congratulations and best of luck to Emily et al. This sounds like a good move for a great venue and a huge positive development for jax.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

So this is the third live music place proposed in a month or so??  Burro, The New Dive Bar, and The New Underbelly....
