Bob, I think you are correct - it would be Public Works.

However IMHO there lies part of the problem with our Parks in Jacksonville.  A single entity to be Overall responsible for the parks, including managing and maintaining was a much better method.

Assigning the Responsibility for Managing the Parks to one agency and then requiring another to maintain just is asking for trouble...

If I recall correctly the Parks department used to be Parks and Public Works and tasked with managing Parks as well as maintaining parks and right of ways and seems to me to be a much better fit then placing the Parks management under an Agency that cannot maintain what they manage?  just an opinion...

I agree. Sounds like a great topic for the new mayor :)

Dog Walker

The Recreation folks got mixed up in it which confused the issue.  Used to be in Gainesville (might still be) that the Parks Dept. controls all the parks and everything that went on in them.  Recreation had to request and provide budget for any and all activities that they did in the city parks.  Recreation Dept sports fields were NOT part of the Parks Dept.

Sounds like a more sensible arrangement than we have.
When all else fails hug the dog.

The whole thing looks tasteful and well done.  I can't wait to see it at night.

They HAVE to work on easy connectivity to both sides of the riverwalk or no one's gonna notice this fountain. The closest Skyway station isn't really close, and the Main street bridge walkway isn't very apparent to most people hanging around the Landing either. I have a friend visiting me from out of town who commented on this very thing while in that area. I noticed it too when I first started. It's a problem.

They had the fountain on last night with the lights on.  It looked really cool.  Noticed t when walking back DT from the beer festival.

I'm glad to see someone in charge is paying attention to the details like the anti-homeless benches (curved with arms in the middle).  Nice job.

What are the last pictures of...the light-looking things in the cement walkway?

I saw this coming home to San Marco last night. Very very cool looking.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

There are, what I call, light stanchions along the concrete walkways all around the Fountain, I would expect they will add a great deal to the ambiance at night...

This picture has one right in the forefront...

I am not sure I understand you here. The San Marco skyway station is about two blocks away. You don't feel this is close enough? Also, the Main St Bridge walkway is usually pretty busy. Anyone at the Landing can easily see people walking it and once the fountain is up, they will easily be able to see that as well.

The fountain is going to get noticed regardless. case closed

This is true. When I visited, before I moved here AND before it got fixed, I noticed it!

It's a fountain. People like fountains! Especially big ones!
