Riverside/Avondale/Ortega/Argyle(even Downtown) has gained a true friend in it's newest city council representative in Jim Love.

Jim was one of the founders and longtime president of the Park and King Merchant Association and has done quite a bit to help see through the revitilization of the King Street District we all love today(Jim had the foresight to get JEA to bury the power lines when the King Street Streetscape project was completed).

Jim is a past board member of RAP, the Downtown Council of the Jax Chamber, member of the Meninak Club and has been a successful small businessman for the past 26 years.

On paper alone, Jim has all the qualifications to be a great leader in this city but it's been his common sense approach to our city's problems and his passion/vision for this city that has really inspired me to have great hope for the next four years.  Rarely have I met councilpersons over the last few years that truly connects with the people they meet and more importantly listens, absorbs and processes information the way Jim does(ask him what he has learned from the Chamber trip to Kansas City last year for example).

I have tremendous faith that our neighborhood, our downtown, our port, our river and our economy has gained a tremendous leader during this election.

With Councilman Love and Councilwoman Boyer at the healm... I believe our urban neighborhoods will truly thrive in this new administration.

I agree, Field.  Jim was my guy from the beginning.  His past experience and credentials alone were enough to get my vote, but the way he ran his campaign are what made me a vocal supporter.  I hope that he will work with the council to continue to grow and improve the core neighborhoods of Jacksonville.

It looks like the council will have more progressive and informed people than in the past, but there are still plenty of backwards crazies on there too.

Kay

Jim is not a board member of RAP.  He left the board when he decided to run for Council.

What sealed the deal for my husband and I was that he actually cared about the part of District 14 outside the historic district.  He showed up at my house over in Argyle last week personally.  He is the first and only candidate that I saw that reached out to my neighborhood at any point this past election.  I spend a great deal of time working in the neighborhood but the fact that he was aware of his potential constituents outside Riverside really impressed me.

My apologies Kay.  I meant to have typed former board member.  I went back and edited.

Jim is a guy who is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and tackle problems. His terrific temperament and community experience will serve him--and our neighborhood--well on the Council.

Dog Walker

You watch Jim and understand what happens to hyperactive children.  They become hyperactive adults and in Jim's case in very positive directions.
When all else fails hug the dog.

In personal conversation with Jim Love soon after the RAP forum during the Primary, discussion ensued over western 14 Duval/Clay development,Brannan/Chaffee.Jim said he was glad the new growth was "over".I felt that was a bit disengenuous-although 'the economy' has caused a lapse,in fact a tremendous amount of unseen yet vested growth/impacts is part of the future picture.

MJ- let's see a profile of Dist 14 Precinct results.  Is District 14 is due for boundary revision ??

The RAP forum provided keen insight-my intuition was that Jill Dame would be most properly effective in dealing with inappropriate RAP area development proposals.

After all,District 14 was blessed with a fine slate of candidates this go 'round. The RAP forum provided a clear indication as to who the front runners would soon be.
Although I supported Jill Dame,it is a relief to know that the winner is truly...a winner.

Congratulations Jim Love.
