Hmmm, I guess downtown's health is important to suburban Jacksonville after all.  Just wondering.  Has Jacksonville ever elected an African-American mayor?

No.

Futurejax. Yes I am aware. But for how many years has our County voted Repulican? I am just saying this is a case study waiting to happen.

Wonder how Diane Melendez got it sooooooooooo wrong?

I hope she reaps the reward for her turncoatery.  The election was so close that her and her little band had the power to turn it for Hogan.

:)   But Stephen.. Hogan IS OUR NEXT MAYOR! PERIOD. End of discussion !!

No, Jacksonville has never elected an African-American mayor.

+1,000 to FutureJax.  By no earthly standard was Hogan a fiscal conservative.  Keeping taxes low and fiscal conservatism are two entirely different animals in this case.

I think it shows just what Stephen talked about after the 1st general.  That the town is more moderate than people perceive it to be.  And what voters hopefully just decided was that the moderate was the better man for the job than the bible thumping nutter.

If Alvin win this has to become a national story. the end of the Tea Party? if they cant deliver in Duval Connty..where can they deliver?

It will. Part of the reason is the rebuke of Rick Scott and all things Tea Party, and for the implications it has for 2012 Presidential race, given Duval is a GOP stronghold (voter registration is meaningless).  Plus as the first D mayor in awhile, and the first A-A mayor.

LOL .. good question!!!!     Go Alvin!!!  GO MJ!!!!!

Steve

I do think that Rick Scott helped Brown, because his approval rating has tanked in the last few months.  I think people realize that we made a mistake as a state.
