In any case, they wouldnt be involved if Kim Daniels hadnt solicited their help, and it would have had to be a good story from her at that.
"The spokesman said she did not reach out to the organization, which had decided to endorse and support her on its own."

I'm looking at the totality of the report.

Kim Daniels would benefit from publicly rejecting these unwanted endorsements.  Call it a Sistah Souljah moment, if you will...

Stephen...does this quote not bother you?

"We warn the white community, and other conservative groups, that we won't sit idly by while another black leader, and especially a black woman is threatened," said a spokesman for the party during a downtown rally on Friday.

Jimmy

It sure bothers me.  No one has threatened this person.  People have gone to lengths to showcase her own words.  This may do her real harm by her loss of the election.  That's how I interpreted those remarks.  An attempt to silence critics through intimidation.

And memo to the NBPP: these are not conservative groups doing the highlighting. And neither are they white ones.  Statement of the African American Ministers in Action (AAMIA):

“At African American Ministers in Action, our hope is that Americans will always have the opportunity to elect public officials who stand for respect and liberty, fairness and equality, and treat all people with the dignity that they deserve. We are disheartened by the advancement of a candidate who has instead chosen to be a voice of fear and intolerance. The people of Jacksonville deserve better.”

I agree with Jimmy:

â€"noun
1. physical injury or mental damage; hurt: to do him bodily harm.
2. moral injury; evil; wrong.
â€"verb (used with object)
3. to do or cause harm to; injure; damage; hurt: to harm one's reputation.

The emphasis added is mine.

"If any harm comes her way, or any other black people, we will definitely respond and the consequences will be severe."  And given that it was directed at white people and conservatives specifically, it has threatening overtones.

Concur with Jimmy.. Daniels various messages are of her own hateful words.  She is her own worst enemy.

FlowerPower

The Southern Poverty Law Center which tracks hate groups has listed the New Black Panthers.  They SPLC writes:  The New Black Panther Party is a virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have encouraged violence against whites, Jews and law enforcement officers. Founded in Dallas, the group today is especially active on the East Coast, from Boston to Jacksonville, Fla.

[Bold Emphasis added is mine.]

Nice find, FlowerPower.  I had no idea they were listed with the SPLC.

Stephen, those videos do bother me. But they are wholly unrelated to this discussion.

Daniels has not been criticized by ACT. Unless I'm mistaken.

Kimberly Daniels in the TU:

Quote
"While I deeply appreciate the people of the community coming forth, due to threats upon me and my family, I need to make it known that my ministry or campaign did not initiate or sponsor the press conference," the candidate said in a written statement.

"Also, I did not make arrangements with anyone for security or protection," added Daniels, a Democrat facing Republican David Taylor for the council's At-Large Group 1 seat.

This video from Saturday's National Day of Action may provide some insight into who initiated contact:

This is an event where over 100 persons (so it is not just 5 guys) showed up at Hemming Plaza where during his speech Mikhael says he grew up with Kim Daniels (time 20:17) and then explains how Kim Daniels "spoke out about these wicked Jews" who control the wealth of America and were involved in the slave trade and how he heard about how she was attacked by a group called African-Americans in Ministry. After hearing she had been threatened he tells the story of how his group contacted Kimberly Daniels and according to him she was "waiting for his call".  He then offered security. I should note that he does not in his speech say she agreed to his group's protection. This came out a day after the appearance on First Coast News.

This also seems to counterindicate Steven's theory that it was Kimberly Daniels who first contacted NBP.

Along the way the speaker also made several derogatory comments about the "news media, JEWS media" (minute 14:45 and again around 22:59).

While there was no call to violence in what I viewed, it is clear some antisemitic language was present.

What are you talking about Stephen, everyone knows jaywalking is punishable by death...

Jimmy

So, Daniels took the opportunity to say she appreciates the support of this group, disavows all knowledge of contacting them, and says nothing about the tone and tenor of the "support."  So, like I said before, she therefore adopts the hate-speech and (call to) violence of the group.

David Taylor it is.

What's that old saying about being able to judge a person by the company they keep?

Mmmmmm...fruitcake!

Jimmy

I've seen some fruitcakes in my day, Chris.  That's an impressive looking one.
